Batman: Arkham Asylum BEATEN + REVIEWED!

Just 4 days since it was released and just 2 days since I first put it in my Xbox 360's disc tray, I have beaten Batman: Arkham Asylum. I just want to say Thank You to Rocksteady Studios for creating the best Superhero game EVER!

If you haven't picked up Arkham Asylum yet, you really need to. It is such an awesome game. You can check out my review here:

dan_scfc's Arkham Asylum Review

Just missed out out a 9.5, but is still in good company with the likes of Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War with a 9.

Also, it's the 1st September, which means Summer is over and the games start to roll in. Halo 3: ODST is just 21 days away, FIFA 10 on 2nd October and Modern Warfare 2 just two months away.

I also start school on 9th September, but hopefully it shouldn't affect how active I am on GameSpot.

Thanks for reading guys.

Purchases!

Hey, what's up guys. These last couple of days have been SUPER hectic. However, I have been able to sit down and tell you guys what i have bought.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

As if just said, these last couple of days have been crazy so haven't had any time to play this yet. Hopefully tomorrow, I will be able to sit down and play it. I should review this game when completed.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard

snow leopard

This is Snow Leopard and it is the next iteration of Mac OS X. Finally, I managed the sit down late last night and install it. I am really liking the speed enhancements and Quicktime X.

White Silicone Case for iPod Touch

My iPod touch was simply getting to scratched so I bought this case to help protect it. In my opinion, I think it looks a lot better in white.

Okay guys, at the moment I'm just watching MLG Dallas which runs all weekend and Stoke City beat Sunderland today!

Catch you later.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo Impressions

I don't normally post a blog on consecutive days but I just had to talk about Arkham Asylum.

I am very careful with my purchases with Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, CoD: World at War, Dead Space and Fight Night Round 4 being my only purchases of 2009. However, with the glowing reviews and the awesome demo up on Xbox LIVE (and PlayStation Network) right now, Arkham Asylum will be my 6th purchase of 2009.

The game is already available in North America and will be available here in the UK on Friday.

Anyway, I watched the video review here on GameSpot and noticed that the game had a 91 aggregate score on MetaCritic so I added it to my download queue via Xbox.com then next time I turned my 360 it started downloading. Obviously, you can't judge a game on it's demo but I've got to say: I was blown away. The game looks stunning it is well lit and has an amazing attention to detail. The voice acting, which includes Mark Hamill as the Joker (also played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars) is top notch. The combat is fantastic as well, it is free-flowing and just downright fun. The best element however, is Arkham Asylum's ability to let you approach any situation as you like.

You may be Batman, but you just can't run into a fight with 4 armed enemies. You have to use something Batman always has on his side: Stealth. However, I have only played the demo and can't wait to get stuck into the full game on Friday 28th August.

I will have a roughly just under a month to concentrate on Arkham Asylum because ODST is also getting closer. It's nearly here! Starting on the 28th the games season truly kicks in.

So what do you guys think of the Arkham Asylum demo? Also, to those who live in North America and have played the full game, does it live up to the hype?

The UK... European or not?

Hey, what's up guys. I just want to talk about the gaming state here in the UK. Recently, the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) was replaced in it's job of rating games in the UK by PEGI (Pan European Game Information). However, a game can only be banned in the UK by the BBFC. Confusing? Tell me about it...

Geographically, the UK is in the continent of Europe, however, we are not part of mainland Europe. Culturally, the UK was VERY different from Europe. In the UK, we have problems that include binge drinking that countries in Europe do not have. The UK, culturally, is a lot similar to countries like the US, Canada and Austraila, in which, for example, finding someone naked in a video game is more shocking and offensive than chainsawing somebody. However, in Europe, this is the opposite.

Some games including DiRT 2 announced that the release dates were:

8th September in North America

10th September in Europe

11th September in the UK

Hang on, so has someone just decided that we are not Europe? It's not that I'm against that, I firmly believe that the UK should be ruled from the UK and not a bunch of guys in Paris that do not understand British culture.

The UK will never become Germany and Australia esque and just ban loads of games. I'm just frustrated that games are being a rated by a European board, but games like DiRT 2 seperate us apart.

So that's my view point. Oh, and I've finally pre-ordered my copy of Modern Warfare 2: Hardened Edition, so my Autumn/Winter gaming season is all wrapped up now.

MLG Dallas is this weekend. Really excited. Might do a blog post about that on Friday. Anyway, enjoy the rest of the week.

For the record: I WILL NEVER BUY A PS3!

Seriously, all Sony have done is make a good looking console into a Xbox 360 Elite lookalike. It is still terrible online, it still has hardly any (worth having) exclusive games and it is still a rip off.

I do not understand why you would pay £250 for a PS3, when you could pay £199 for an Xbox 360 Elite.

ps3 slim

I'll say it right here, right now: I WILL NEVER, EVER BUY A PS3!

Thanks, but no thanks Sony.

Stay Safe. Stay Tuned. And enjoy the weekend, guys.

*PS- I am not an Xbox 360 Fanboy.

Civ Rev on the iPhone= EPIC WIN! + MW2 Pre-ordered soon!

I haven't been a big fan spending money on Apps for my iPod Touch, mostly because I play them for half an hour and never touch (touch, get it, iPod Touch) them again. However, I was browsing the App Store and I saw a certain game I love on sale.

civ rev

I played Civilization Revolution on the Xbox 360 and I loved it, gave it a 9. Now, it's on my iTouch and I still LOVE IT! It's just so addicting to build up a civilisation and build armies and flatten the other ones around you. If you have a iPod Touch/iPhone, get it, it is so worth it. I was playing it, looked at my clock and it was 2:00AM!

Also, I now have enough money for:

modern warfare 2

85 days to go! Just wrapping up a few things, then this will be pre-ordered via Amazon.

Also, I am getting:

x1

Those are the Turtle Beach X1 Headsets for the Xbox 360. You can hear every single detail in a game, from the footsteps of your enemy to the teammates reloading. It also allows you to communicate with your friends like a normal 360 headset.

Okay, guys thanks for reading and please comment saying what you think.

I'm Back/ Your plans for the weekend?

Hey guys, last night I got back from my recent trip to Cornwall. Great trip, although I was repeatedly sick on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I still had a great time. Anyway, I'm back, so I'm busy getting ready for the all the games coming out soon. Halo 3: ODST is just over a month away and I can't wait.

Also, the Premier League season started today, and I'm in great mood because my team, Stoke City, won 2-0. Great way to start the weekend. I'm also off to Liverpool to watch Stoke play them at Anfield- I doubt we'll come away with anything but it will be an experience.

I haven't had no Xbox 360 in 8 days so I'm ready to hop on. What are you guys doing this weekend? And what games are you playing?

Anyway, I'll leave you with a pic of Newquay's Fistral Beach.

Going to Cornwall!

Hey, what's up guys. Well, guess what? It's holiday time. And I'm off to Newquay, Cornwall.

cornwall

Cornwall is a beautiful part of England and so is Newquay with it's amazing beaches including the world-famous Fistral Beach. I am really looking forward to it as I really need a break. I will be there for a week, so if you find me a bit silent (e.g not commenting on your blogs, not posting anything) it's because I'm on a beach somewhere in South-West England.

If there is a decent game I find I may buy it but at the moment I am saving all the money I get for the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 2.

Okay guys, enjoy the upcoming week. I know I will!

Have you ever been disappointed by a game?

Hey guys, hope you enjoyed my countdown of my most wanted games, with Modern Warfare 2 reigning supreme. Anyway, I want to talk about disappointing games.

Gaming seems to be the only medium where sequels are regularly better than their predecessor. However, depending on personal preference, games CAN be disappointing, I don't really have this much as I am very careful with my purchases I read reviews, I watch gameplay vids and so on...

However, one game springs to mind...

far cry 2

Far Cry 2 was a rare species. I didn't read reviews or any other stuff I do before buying a game, I just went for it. £17.99 from Play.com. However, when I dropped it in, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Stupidly long vehicle sections, enemies attacking you every five seconds, confusing story. Wow, really did not like that game.

Anyway, have you ever been disappointed with a game you have been really looking forward to?

My Most Wanted #1

And top of the pile is

modern warfare 2

#1 Modern Warfare 2

There were only ever two games in the running for the top spot, Halo 3: ODST came ridiculously close but my Most Wanted game is Modern Warfare 2. Cannot wait for this game as I really enjoyed the campaign in Call of Duty 4- Infinity Ward are simply better than Treyarch and the recent multiplayer video that hit YouTube just blew me away.

What I have tried to make sure did not affect my decision was the hype machine this is starting to become, sure there will be plenty of hype, but I am pretty sure it will live up to it.

To recap:

#1 Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360)

#2 Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360)

#3 FIFA 10 (Xbox 360)

#4 BioShock 2 (Xbox 360)

#5 Halo: Reach (Xbox 360)

Hope you enjoyed my countdown of my most wanted games!

I just recently completed the DLC, 'The Pitt' for Fallout 3, for me, easily the best DLC out the Operation: Anchorage and Broken Steel. That also helped me past 20,000G!
