It's quite alright. I've got rather low self esteem myself, and I'm not really bothered by it. If anything, it acts as a good "quality control" system, since I'm so critical of everything I do. Such is the nature of a perfectionist, like myself...

I'm looking for a rather inexpensive (perferrably sub $75, but I can go a tad higher if needed) stable, overclockable, socket LGA 775 motherboard that supports C2D processors. I was going to pick up an e4300 or e6300, slap a decent heat sink on it, and OC the heck out of it. I'm not looking for any fancy features, either. As long as it has a PCI-E bus that runs at speeds of at least 8x, I'll be happy.

Any suggestions?

If I understand what you're saying, no, the graphics card isn't limited to the motherboard. Provided the card works on a slot your motherboard has, and your PSU is up to snuff, you can use any make of graphics card in your PC.

Nice... Guess I'm just updating my computer with parts from newegg thenChickenAndStars

What's your current PC? Perhaps it's just better to build one from scratch? I mean, for $500, I'm sure you could whip something up.

I know I'm probably gonna have to buy a new video card, but do you think this is a good deal?ChickenAndStars

Not only would you have to buy a new video card, but you'd need a new processor, at at least 1 more GB of RAM.

Just sounds like your card is damage. Never had a card burn out on me but it does happen.

Maybe take this as a sign to get a better one? The nvidia 8600's are about to come out.

Sleepyz

Last time a video card burnt out on me, the computer would randomly restart, become unresponsive, and crash. He describes his problem as only happening while he plays games. A burnt out video card would cripple the entire PC, during any task.

Could you tell us your card's temps while playing the offending game(s)?
