what laptop?
there are definitely laptops than can "run" it. If you want the eye candy you will probably want an 8800m GTX
Vista, though it doesn't look much like Vista anymore.
Vista is fine once you get rid some of the crap that's enabled by default. Superfetch seems to be the cause of the excessive memory consumption and constant harddrive grinding present in Vista. I ran with it enabled for the longest time (it helped with program responsiveness a bit,) but I've finally disabled it when I found out it caused the HDD grinding. The file indexing service is pretty useless to most users; I disabled that too (as it causes terrible file transfer speeds and periodic HDD grinding.) Things like UAC and Windows Defender are also worth disabling if you're a power user.
[QUOTE="JP_Russell"]I don't believe it either.
'According to "reliable sources" close to The Inquirer'
Stopped reading there. The Inquirer is about nothing but rumors, which are often incorrect or skewed.
EDIT - Okay, I decided to skim through the whole thing, and now I feel stupid. It's saying DX11 won't be on the scene for Vienna (which means we won't see DX11 at all anytime soon).

Don't confuse "The Inquirer" with "The National Inquirer."
Even with predictions based on "insider info," The Inquirer seems to be accurate more often than not.
Edit: Wow, lots of typos tonight.
is that KDE? how did you get it to run with Vista?
i was thinking of getting the Lachesis, is the death adder better or worse tho?
and what's their deal with snakes?

if you're not left handed and/or ambidextrous. I'd say go with the Death Adder, sure the Lachesis has a faster response time, but the DAdder's is already extremely fast. I highly doubt you would notice a big difference. Just speculation however.
Nice to hear about the keyboard. I don't really care about programmable keys, it's the illuminated letters and rubber keys that peak my interest. Since I prefer to play in the dark, and not to mention the black and blue scheme matches my antec 900.
I played the "stress test" and it just seemed like a very bland version of EVE (in a different setting of course). The ship combat was mind numbing and repetitive. The cities were lifeless, and the avatar combat was horrible.
This is just my opinion however, and it was also the stress test. So who knows how much content was left out, if any.
I didn't get into the pvp, so I can't answer those questions. Perhaps that's the games strong point... atleast I would hope so for the sake of the other content I experienced.
I know you didn't mention RTS's as one of your preferred genres, but I highly recommend Company of Heroes.
Orange Box as well
