[QUOTE="Kid-Atari"]It becomes irrelevant right there.

Unless the ipad itself shifts to 16:9 resolution you are never going to have good support for this. Why would a developer code the app for a different aspect ratio as well when only a minority will use an ipad with a TV?

The new ipad also cannot charge while gaming so it is useless as a gaming console alternative.

Ipad is the only idevice that can fulfill this purpose but currently its a long way to go.

Not irrelevant. Your assumption was that no iDevice can output to 1080p. Apparently, since a handful of upper-tier games support 1080p, this means the ipad is capable of fitting astonishingly well on a TV. It makes your assumption invalid.

And I have said it before iDevices dont support the aspect ratio of TV's so it will look rather pathetic on a modern TV.

Proof of your ignorance.

Enlighten me.

Certain games like Real Racing 2 output to 1080p. It's up to the developers whether or not their apps and games output to that level. Ignorance is bliss, but in your case it's annoying.

[QUOTE="santoron"]

[QUOTE="semianonymous"]

I can't believe you people actually celebrate a company actively attempting to build a monopoly

Gambler_3

Building a monopoly? Protecting your own innovations and expecting the competition to come up with their own ideas is building a monopoly? :|

Okay lets see this.

Did nintendo try to block the PS move? It's a much bigger ripoff than android ever was of iOS.

Did youtube try to ban every single video streaming website since it was the one with the original idea?

Did rovio try to ban every single game that copies the fundamental basics of angry birds which mind you are a pretty significant amount of casual smartphone games?

Did rockstar try to ban every game that copied GTA3 which again are a pretty significant number?

Did microsoft try to ban every single shooter which copied the health regeneration system of halo?

Did RIM try to ban nokia qwerty phones that ripped of blackberry?

Are you really trying to say that only apple should have devices with multi-touch input? Thats like saying only RIM should have a phone with a portrait keyboard.

What you guys dont even realise is how much android has done for iphone. You wont be seeing an iphone 4 if not for android. Up until the 3GS apple was always lacking behind in hardware and would still be if not for android. You will also not be seeing a big iphone without android.

Keyboards were standardized methods of input since the birth of computing. Name one company that employed multi-touch capacitive touchscreens as an exclusive method of input before Apple. (Single touch resistive screens are not multi-touch capacitive screens) Microsoft was in deep with the government two decades ago for straight up monopoly.

[QUOTE="musicalmac"] Your iDevice is the console, and it doesn't take any wires to play it on your TV. That's all pretty excellent.Gambler_3

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/26/apple-patents-game-controller

From the looks of it, Apple is planning on releasing a traditional game controller that works wirelessly with iPhones, iPods & iPads.

Seems like they've taken notice.

if they really want to save space then they should just use micro usb like everything else but they never will since it stops them price gauging everyone for cables. imprezawrx500
The things they're able to achieve with their custom connector is reason why they do not go with Micro USB.

Welcome to the fam. Now you can play multiplayer games with all your friends who own an iPhone. Don't worry about the screen. The screens get stronger with each new release. Good example is the iPad vs iPad 2 screen durability test on youtube. 3G iPhone screens were notorious for breaking easily. I've dropped my 4S on hard pavement four times in its life with me, not even one hairline scratch (though it did dent the corner a bit as I keep my iDevices naked)

[QUOTE="imprezawrx500"][QUOTE="DroidPhysX"] When was it the case that 60%+ of windows userbase are still on XP as in the case of android in which 60%+ are still on Gingerbread even after 2 more OS updates have been released?mystic_knight
I'm pretty sure xp owned to world till win 7 and even now xp still have a huge market share.

People have a choice on windows they don't really have a choice on android, BIG difference. Im sure if people had the chance to upgrade to ICS they would not say no. Unfortunately this is diverting on focus again, Im surprised you and gambler are disputing this, there really is no need to defend android in this arguement, its fact developers prefer to code for iOS. Its just fact. no disputes need to be made in this regard.

Thank you for being based in reality and not letting personal bias be a cause of delusion

Disregarding the whole survey but it is no mystery that iphone 5 is going to be a huge hit. All apple needs to do is show a 4" screen and everyone will be wowed like they did with iphone 4. Does this mean iphone will have more marketshare than android? Not happening!! Will apple continue to make a killing with profits? No doubt they will and I cant see anyone touching apple profits for a while.

Btw how much has the 4S sold to date? I couldnt find it all I see is total iphone sales does apple not reveal individual lifetime sales of the different models?

Gambler_3
Would like to note that Android's "marketshare" is shapeless at best, which is why developer interest in the platform is eroding. Only a single digit percentage of Android users are currently using the latest two updates. Android is so fragmented, its "marketshare" numbers aren't something developers praise, but are confused and having difficulty with. What's more telling of the success of the iPhone is that it's one phone that is eating away at a collective Android marketshare thats populated with a majority of actual power users and enterprise than the majority of Android owners who shelled out $50 for a phone with Android versions still pre-dating 2010. You know something is wrong when Android forumers bicker amongst themselves for "getting the wrong Android phone." If you have to purchase the most expensive and specific Android phone just to enjoy its full benefit, then you've pretty much resigned to exactly why unification and tightly controlled/supported devices are that much better. You may as well say Android would be more successful if other manufacturers didn't produce dirt cheap handsets with poor support and features that just fragment the ecosystem. That's pretty much admitting why the iPhone has always been and still is the best phone.
