If it wasn't for the red rings, the 360 would be the undeniable champion of all 3 systems. (I'm not talking sales or anything, btw) But because of the ridiculously high failure rate and the weeks and sometimes months it takes for your console to be sent back to you, should it break down, I got a PS3. But now I'm being left out of the greatest games' DLC as MS is actually BUYING exclusivity for downloadable content. It's so strange if you think about a game coming out on both consoles, and only one of the two get extra content. It's scary because it's almost becoming normal.

The wii is in the middle of a severe game drought with all 3 heavy hitters already released; brawl, galaxy and twilight princess. Worst part is wii-only owners are in complete denial, hyping up games like Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers...

This gen is so expensive, faulty, gimmicy (HD this and wii stix that), and more than anything, unbalanced. For the first time ever, I feel i need to own all 3 consoles to properly enjoy quality titles, or else I'll just be shafted from left, right and center. (I only have 2/3 of the current gen consoles...if you count the wii as current gen.)

That's an interesting way of looking at it. It's 10 dollars for a movie in Canada. Most games are around $70. So 2 hours of enjoyment for $10 translated into games (assuming each game is 20 hours long on average) is $100. One Hundred Dollars. Also, once you see the movie, it's done. You can replay games and explore and imagine all you want. And a lot of games cost millions of dollars to make. Game prices can be justified, but not all games really warrant 60 or 70 dollars. A lot of wii games come to mind. ( I have a wii, and a PS3, no bias.)

Depends on the game. Single player modes in fighting games and action games can get boring for me. But for sandbox/RPGs/action adventure, single player is really fun. I enjoy MP with friends, and to a lesser extent with strangers. If I had to choose between SP and (online) MP, I'd chose sp.

MGS3....what a good game. I played it like 3 years after it's inital release and was just blown away. If I had played it when it first came out...I dont know what I would have thought. I would have mailed mr. kojima a video tape of me bowing down to him for 15 minutes. Stupid jokes aside, MGS3 is, so far, my favourite game that I've played. I've played the classics, super mario 64, OoT, and some great games from the xbox/PS2 era. But MGS3 is really, the best game. Not by a lot, but by enough to make it a clear winner in my books. I can't wait to play MGS4.

I get what you're saying TC. I was hyped to get it too...but now I feel like waiting a bit. The servers are still a bit shaky with everyone getting on simultaneously and probably not many people have uploaded stellar levels. I'll get my copy in a few months when things have settled and I can play, create, share with ease and abundance.

When I was a kid I played a lot of SNES and PS1 games with my neighbour and best friend. But what really got me into gaming as a hobby was when i got my N64 and Super Mario 64. That game got me hooked, and from there I went on to play games like Rayman: The Great Escape, No Mercy, Vigilante 8, and now...I'm an addict. Perhaps my disliking the FPS genre has something to do with the absence of FPS games in my youth.

In Canada, or at least Ontario, all high school students need 40 hours to graduate. My school is different, we need 75 hours. It's not that bad, and it's really good for the community.

Those guys were a freakin' inspiration for me. Every time I sit down to write a review/article/editorial I strive to emulate their writing sty-les and bring my own writing up to that level. Reading their reviews consistently amazes me in the way they can weave the English language in the way they do.

The_Game21x

I agree with this a lot. They were so articulate and knowledgable. Kasavin and Gerstamann that is. I also miss Alex Navarro. He was the last good reviewer on gamespot. Greg and Jeff had such a solid and firm writing style and they knew what they were talking about. They're reviews were spot on. If you wanted to know what a game was about, you'd be relieved to know that Kasavin reviewed it or, Gertsmann reviewed it. Navarro was blunt, funny, and spot on.

It's so strange that the three reviewers who were my favourite, left gamespot. Kevin VanOrd is all right. He reveiws a lot of games and has a decent st-yle, but he sounds like just another magazine article or something. He's no Kasavin.

I agree with some of your arguments, but disagree with others. There's no lasting appeal after the main story is done, that's for sure. It had less content (as in, things to do) than the other games, thats for sure. But I enjoyed the multiplayer. It's really fun and can be competitive. Also, I think Jacob was really memorable. I'm glad that he **SPOILERS** didn't die at the end **END SPOILERS** because he was really cool, funny, and in his own rastafarian way, badass.
