The only problem is how hard it is to leave...

SSJ_Nega

I wonder why that is. It's a place full of rabbid fanboys and half baked debates with no winner, no ownage declared, and in the end, nothing. And yet I keep coming back. But this is probably the last thread i'll make, and one of the last times i'll ever come back here.

Leave system wars.

Stop going to Kotaku.

Don't visit IGN anymore.

Stop reading reviews.

Every hands-on update you read, every gameplay footage you watch, every story teaser trailer you see, you're ruining the game little by little. Fewer and fewer surprises are left for when you have the game in your hand, you know too much of what to expect. You already know what the gameplay will be like, how the story will start off, what the graphics are like, the the music will be like, and it's virtually impossible to be blown away off your feet.

Last gen, I didn't even know what gamespot was. I thought fable was one of the best games ever made, and I found out about it by fluke and played it; not knowing what to expect.

A few months later, I'm a gamespot regular and I'm seeing so much hate towards Fable, calling it a flop, etc. I'm so grateful that I didn't follow the hype on so many of my favourite games like fable, KOTOR1/2, the Prince of Persia series, etc. I played them fresh, and they will stay with me forever.

Games this gen have less of a lasting effect because I'm always up to date with the latest reviews, previews, and footage.

Well

No more. I'm going back to the good old days. I'm trying games myself, explore things and find things out first hand.

I suggest you do the same. Somehow system wars is pretty addictive, but I can guarentee that you'll enjoy games much better if you stop following hype.

Up to you.

what about wifi. PS3 comes with built in wifi. So does the wii. Also, 40 gigs dont run out fast at all, so you're 129.99 harddrive is barely even a point. Also, most people dont have 40 gigs, they have 80 gigs.

[QUOTE="Indie_Hitman"]when was Square Enix ever god? Square Soft was pretty close though.Frank_N_Suff

Well there was a time when people acted like they were the best. Mainly PS system fans. but i would say those days are long gone.

To me the USA developers make much better games now.

Bioware and Ubisoft Montreal are Canadian Devs and put out some very high quality games.

Wow, so you mean to tell me that the devs interviews and dev diaries said that they really did a good job on their OWN piece of work? Wow, what a concept that is to say that you worked really hard to please the fans on something you worked on...

[QUOTE="deluxemando"]

If you've been following the developer interviews and dev diaries, and if you've seen the post-mortem interview that was put up with the review, you'd know that the devs really wanted to please fans with addictive gameplay using over the top powers, and a compelling story.

They spent a year building the concept for this game, and years meshing the different technologies (Euphoria, DMM, Havok) together to form fluid gameplay that wasn't just a tech demo, but had art and style. If you played the demo, you know that they achieved this.

Reviews are a fickle thing. Taking a game, dissecting it, breaking it's wholeness into pieces and criticising them individually lead to misleading conclusions. I know that a game with this much heart poured into it's development can't be a bad game. Maybe it's not going to be as legendary as the KOTOR experience, but this SW game is one you have to pick up.

Support the devs, enjoy a new and exciting Star Wars tale, and buy this game.

Here's hoping for a sequel. Or at least another new star wars with the same concept, but improved upon with added gameplay twists and such. Not anytime soon though. These guys took their time and I'm glad they did.

Go buy the game.

You have to watch the vids to understand what I'm talking about. They could have whipped out some crummy star wars game and watch the sales go just on the name star wars itself. Instead they made a quality title and you should support their effort.

I guess this is the damage control post that follows any poorly reviewed game with any media attention.Hewkii

Lol you think you're clever. This is a multiplat game; everyone gets the same quality. So how could there possibly be damage control? Also, this isn't just a game with "any media attention", it's star wars, heavily influenced by lucas himself. Finally, 7.5 is not a score to 'damage control' over. It's a solid score. It's not like I'm defending a 5.5. People like you make system wars what it is; hilarious.
