[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]

The wiiu comes accross as cheaped out tech. The gamepad controller only lasts a few hours because the battery is cheap garbage. The online store and account system is built to exploit customers by nickel and diming them (paying extra to play VC games on the gamepad? No thanks). You have to pay $0.50 for kids to use online (small amount, but why????).

The hard drive is too small, requiring consumers to pay more money for more capacity, while making their living room setup more cluttered in the process. The thing doesn't have an ethernet cable slot, requiring a special USB adapter. The graphics horsepower is bad, granted, but that's not a huge problem. The horsepower issue would be fine if the resulting hardware was at least a well-made product that will be a one-time purchase instead of a box of headaches waiting to happen. Speaking of headaches, the loading times and software updates are obnoxiously long.

So yeah, I voted for "lack of features" but "overall philosophy of cheaping out and antagonism towards consumers" would have been a better phrasing for my tastes.

the loading times are probably due to the slow cpu, even if its more effiecient its still slow. I can see both ps4/XboxNext having similar issues with slower clocked cpus.

the clock speed of a CPU is not indicative of performance.

Bad marketing and no system selling games.

Also some people felt alienated by the wii and are hesitant on the wii u, others are just simply more interested to see what the next sony and microsoft consoles have to offer

I heard some people that actually mentioned that instead of Ninty going third party fully, they could start making iOS games for cellphones for extra cash.

There would probably be plenty of people that would get any game from them on smartphones. Its a great market to tap into albeit crowded, but I'm sure with their pedigree it would be profitable.

from my perspective, this only makes sense if their handheld market is failing. Putting mario products on a device that more or less indirectly competes with their handheld could become more harmful than beneficial.

At some point though (if dedicated portable game systems go away) i could see nintendo moving some of its installments on android and iOS plaforms.

I don't think anyone wants to see Nintendo Fail. They want to see Nintendo bring out a stronger console and get back to their roots a bit, but that's an entirely different conversation.

The Wii U has sold what, over 3 million in its first two months?? And weren't most of those sales with the deluxe $350 model? I'm pretty sure the 360 had a fairly slower start at its launch despite being only $50 more ($399) and games that definitely separated itself from previous gen. I won't include the PS3 in that discussion as they were priced at $599. Honestly didn't the 360 sales only start really picking up when games like gears of war and halo 3 were released?? either way, the console did not storm out of the gate at launch (i need someone to verify that actually, too lazy to look up the numbers).

In other words, people who make judgments on a console after 2 months (especially from a company who has an extensive history of successful game systems, appeals to family and casuals and has a pretty fanatical fanboy following) are morons. Unless that product is a virtual boy... or a gizmondo

Nintendo predicted $5.5 million in it's first 3 months. I'm pretty sure nobody expected that to happen, it has no killer apps at launch. Mostly nintendo fans bought it. When games like mario kart and smash bros launch, they'll probably sell another $15-20 million. In fact by the time the console's done (in 5-6 years since that's typically the life span of a nintendo console) it will probably end up with $40-45 million in sales, which is more than enough for that company to make profit (or at least get by).

I mean chances are i'll try to get one for sale when smash bros or the next 3D mario gets released (i admittedly still love 3d mario platformers).
