No video games.
If the plan goes through anyway.
Hopefully not too long, I'll be moving to America.
My girlfriend lives there and is tired of long distance.
So. Yeah.
And I can't bring my gaming stuff, different sockets and region stuff and all that. Bit of a bummer.
All she's got there is The Sims. 1.
And a Snes, which is cool. But aaahh.
It'll be like going through a video game time warp! :?
Still, this is a little ways off. So I can enjoy what I got while I can I guess cause when I get there it'll be pretty cold turkey.
S'pose on the brightside. I'll be with my girlfriend.
So I can work out my other "joystick" skills if you get what I mean.

Seeing Red.
by dimsey on Comments
Went to play the 360 earlier, as one does.
Turn it on..
And.. Theres red lights.
And nothing on screen.
Just. Red lights.
I turned it on and off, hoping this would help.
But.. It didn't.
Went online to look it up.
And found some "solutions" using the term loosely cause they didn't solve anything. At all.
Pulled plugs in and out.
Took out the harddrive.
Tried it without it in.
Put it back andtried it. No luck.
It looks like I'm gonna have to send it in.
FREAKED OUT MUCH.
Dead Rising should be out downunder soon enough.
CAN'T BREATHE! Lol.
Kidding. But am pissed.

So I got'sa hold of this a couple of days ago.
Won't mean much to most readers, being in America and all and having the full damned game for their purchasing pleasure, but still.
It's great fun.
It'll obviously be better when the full version's available down under, which won't be for another month apparently.
I like some story to go with my slaughter, plz.
But all the same, the slaughter is of very high quality.
And the amount of Zombie's on a screen at one time just seems mind-boggling, with an almost equally mind-boggling amount of ways to dispose of these undead bastards.
It's grrrrrrrreat.
September can't come soon enough.
Will add here my disapointment that Spore's been pushed back to the second half of 07.
Pretty sure beforehand it was like.. The first half.
So yeah.
Drag.

Just reportin' new games and such.
Chromehounds.
I haven't really been able to get into the meat of it (The online modes) but from what little I have played (deathmatch) I could tell that it'd be even more fun if I could play properly.
But I can't. Eh. Still, good game.
And Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires.
Still same old Dynasty Warriors.
But with an added lite-strategy layer that makes it a tad more interesting then previous games.
Good fun.
Next purchase I think will likely be Prey.
Aside from portal/gravity gimmicks seems like a straightfoward shooter to me. Little else available though.
Pondered picking up the rest of The Sims expansions.
I haven't got Unleashed, Superstar or Makin' Magic.
Don't know if I'd play them considering I've got Sims 2.
But if I got them I'd atleast have completed my collection.
Dead Rising demo apparently out.
Will have to download in the morning.
Pity it's timed, though.
Looking foward to that game.
Anyway, thats all from me.
Night.

Stuff.
by dimsey on Comments
Lo' folks.
Just droppin' in to say howdy and keep ya's updated on what I'm playin' and whatnot.
The other day I picked up The Sims Family Fun Stuff and Tropico 2: Pirate Cove.
I'm a huge fan of The Sims series, barring console and handheld releases it's all good stuff. But FFS just isn't great.
Yeah, it's just a "stuff pack" meaning it contains some extra furniture, clothes etc etc - but theres not enough stuff in the stuff pack to warrant getting it, really. The stuff there would've served better as free downloads, me thinks.
The next stuff pack however, looks better.
We'll see though.
Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is rather decent.
I'd frankly be more interested in the first Tropico (And I'm seeing about ordering it and it's expansion in as I type) but given this was all that was on the shelf and it was pretty darn cheap I thought what the hell and went for it.
And it's cool. What isn't cool about runnin' your own little Pirate island? After I've played a little bit more I'll write a bit of a review.
And after a **** of hunting, I'll finally have Guitar Hero on Monday. I've been after this for MONTHS.
And though the price is a little iffy ($129 AUD, yikes), most signs indicate it's well worth it.
These rhytham (Spelling error, I know) games typically interest me, but the music typically sucks in my oppinion.
But from what I've read, Guitar Hero kicks ass in that regard too. So should be good.
I'll also make a note here that I should track down both of the Parappa The Rappa games sometime. I played the demo for the 2nd one years back and thought it was decent but that was years ago, and the only genre I was really open too was RPG's.
I've broadened my horizons a lot recently as far as game genres go (Whodathunk I'd like a Madden game? Or Eyetoy?) so we'll see.
Haven't posted any Free Games in a little while so here ya'll go..
http://www.pardus.at/index - Pardus.
If youi like games like Elite, Freelancer, Vega Strike etc etc but would like to play in a MMO enviroment with a hellofalotta other people then this is a good recomendation.
Warning, it's browser based. So this won't be for everyone.
But I've played a few days and it seems to have some depth to it, and you only get something like 5000turns in a day, so you don't have to spend an awful lot of time in it.

Sometime ago I posted Urban Dead, the Zombie VS Survivor game where you ran around, killing each other and barricading buildings. Well this is a lot like that, but probably more indepth.
But replace Zombies and Survivors with Demons and Angels.
Of course though, you start as a plain, ordinary human (albeit perhaps with some spells learnt along the way) and can opt to stay that way aswell.
Well that should do ya. Ciao folk.

It's been awhile.
by dimsey on Comments
How folks. Been almost a month since I last left something here.
I've been fairly active in reviewing though, which is something right?
Lord knows I couldn't do it (write reviews) professionally, but it's good to be able to add a little something ontop of whatever score I give a game. Tell you why it got that score.
Why I think you should get that game and avoid that one like the plague. Good stuff.
Games I've bought since my last entry include:
Hitman: Blood Money - Awesome game.
Soul Calibur 3 - Also pretty decent.
Nintendogs - Cool.
Call of Duty 2 - Suprisingly good.
And theres probably one or two more, but I'm braindead.
I recently stopped being a cheap bastard and paid for a gold account on Xbox live.
Gamer tag Dimsey as you can probably see, if you'd like to look me up or whatever.
Game of choice at the moment is Call of Duty 2.
I'm avoiding team games as I don't have a mic and they don't seem to get them in here, so it might be awhile.
Figured team games would be best if I could actually respond to whoever I'm playing with.
But even just deathmatch is pretty fine.
I forget the name of my weapon of choice, but it's a sniper rifle.
I tried over weapons, but I'm nowhere near accuarate enough for them. Reasonably bad vision. I can't even get close enough to kill them with some of the other guns.
But Sniper Rifle I can waltz into battle and if I'm lucky pick off 1 or 2 folk before someone puts a bullet inbetween my eyes.
Great game.
And I don't normally like WW2 games so from me thats something.
360 stock is running dry.
By that I mean the store I go too doesn't seem to be getting anything new in. They've had almost exactly the same games in since it launched in March, with the only addition that I'm aware of being Rockstar Table Tennis.
The only ones I'm interested in that I haven't got yet though are Kameo, Quake 4, Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter and Far Cry: Instincts; Predator.
I just hope they have some more in by the time I pick those off.
Chromehounds is supposed to be out soon.
I found the demo to be a little bland, but I'm fairly certain it'd be more exciting playing against real people with a mech of my design.
Some of the complaints people had, like pace being to slow don't bother me - they're mechs for christ sake! Pretty much walking tanks. They aren't going to zoom across maps.
The only thing that really bothered me were the graphics.
Now I'm not a graphicswhore in the slightest.
But the Mechs look so good and the enviroments just oh so bland that it just doesn't look/feel right.
Still, we'll see how things go when the full version comes out.
Also, Prey.
I haven't had the chance to play the demo.
Over a gig is a bit too steep for me to wait out.
But I've heard good things about it thusly I'll likely pick that up when it comes out also.
Anyway, that'll do for now.
Later.

Curse this area and it's blasted lack of broadband!
by dimsey on Comments
I've often glanced at reviews and bits and pieces to do with Secondlife, the online social game which is more or less completely built by the players.
It looks like something I could've got into and toyed around with from time to time. Virtual art gallerys to look at, music to be heard, games to be played, lots of nice social settings and the possibility to make my own.
Tonight I caved in against the insistant requirement screen that inisted I had Broadband.
I've played various Korean MMO's and stuff and I ran okay.
What harm could I do?
Well no harm exactly. But it's pretty much unplayable on IDSN.
The lag is too great. Theres like a five second delay on what I press and what translates on screen which often wound up with me walking off cliffs and over rails or into people.
Most of the models loaded up fine, oh save for the textures.
And the art in said gallerys loaded quite slow, making the art appear blurry and gradually getting better quality if I felt like waiting around for it.
I'll have to make a note to come back and try again if we ever get broadband around here.
Until then, the hunt for a non-competitive online game is still on.

E3 and games and junk!
by dimsey on Comments
Lotta good stuff from E3, methinks.
More games to keep my eyes on.
Spore still tops my list and it looks as if though it's coming along nicely and might actually live up to the hype.
I only just took notice of Chromehounds.
I dismissed it when I had first heard of it, but reading on it a bit more it sounds pretty damn good. Mech-buildin', Mech-blowin' up, tactical combat. Xbox Live multiplayer. Just droooolerific.
Smackdown vs Raw 2007 is looking better and better.
Thank the heavens a decent game is coming to an xbox system.
The wrestling games on the original xbox were sorely lacking.
Joke about it's name if you must, be the Wii looks like it'll be a must by. Solid Snake in the new Smash Bros? Yes please!
Super Mario Galaxies looks interesting too.
And at a decliously low price, definately picking it up the moment it's released, if not sooner!!!!
Good stuff.. Good stuff..
Anyhoo, did wind up picking up Top Spin and it's an okay game.
I just suck at it. And a single match can take me 30mins to an hour! I told you I suck. Yet alone a damned tournament.
I haven't had a chance to play online unfortunately, my free xbox live gold trial expired, but I enjoyed it enough to warrant registering for another year. So come payday, yeah. Xbox live!
Tennis is good, but lordy - Chromehounds!
That'll be sweet.
Anyway, enough ranting. Ciao.

I went to Port today and had I any spare money lord knows it would've been thrown down the drain to fuel my gaming habbits, but alas it had other places to go - places that'd help keep me fed and with roof overhead. And until they make a game system that can produce food from nothingness and provide some sort of shelter, tis a necessary evil.
But it didn't stop me from looking for potential candidates.
At Toy World, I was pleasantly suprised with their collection - for previous visits have turned up crap - it kind of bothers me that they have the Backyard Wrestling Games both for $100; regardless that they've been sitting there since we moved here, practically.
I want to try them, but reviews point out they ain't worth that kind of money and I can't rent them, so... PUT THE PRICE DOWN.
I saw the PS2 version of The Godfather. It was special edition.
I "Oooed" appropiately. I didn't even know there was one.
Alas, I've my heart set on the Xbox 360 version; so I'm waiting.
Though chances are they won't get the 360 special edition in, that'd be too much to ask.
They also had a new Driver game; paralell lines or some such. Also special edition. (Ooo again). I liked Driver 2 enough. I didn't play Driver 3 but I hear its.. Not great. Haven't heard much on this new one, but thus far I haven't really heard the kind of critisisms 3 got so might give it a shot later down the track.
Top Spin 2 was there also. Sports games are kind of a risk with me. I'll either really like them (Madden 06, Fight Night 3) or hate them (NBA 06, erm... yeah) - But uhh.. I don't know. It got decent reviews and it certainly looks okay, so long as it's essentially "pong" with people I'll have no problems right? :P I'll probably get it. There isn't exactly a huge selection of 360 games out so take what I can get.
Lastly but not least; Colleseum: Road To Freedom.
It got average reviews round the board it seems. But some of the user reviews give it decent enough praise and I generally trust my fellow people more then I do the reviewers.
Not to mention I just have a thing about Gladitorial Combat. Theres not nearly enough games set in that era and focused around such. And the whole what kinda sounds like a Monster Rancher element of training your gladiator and stuff appeals to me greatly also. It's fairly cheap, so if it does turn out crap it won't be a major loss and I can probably pimp it out at my brothers store, where he rents out the games I'm through with/hate and I rake in a small profit (eventually).
Sweeeet.
Fairly recently Condemned, Full Auto and Dead or Alive are consuming my time. I'm fairly determined to unlock and achieve everything possible in them.
Though I'ma hit brick walls in Dead Or Alive since I can't play online due to the non-updating, in Condemned I have difficulty spotting Dead Birds/Metal Bits and Full Auto I just plain suck, ha.
Not playing Oblivion so much as I'm peeved with it.
I was doing excellent in Oblivion. As far as achivements go I only had to do the Fighters Guild quests and I'm through with that.. BUT that was before we got Xbox Live.
When we did, they made a new profile for it as opposed to just sticking it on my first one. I wish I could've supervised this and made sure my achievements would go noticed but alas I wasn't there. And so I'm pretty much playing Oblivion all through again.
Same goes with Fight Night and Full Auto.
The others I was fortunate not to have until after the sign up fiasco, so they're clean. But with Full Auto, Fight Night and Oblivion I'll be doing everything I can twice, for the sake of completion. I almost dread it.
Anyway, raved on abit. Sorrys bout that.
Catch yas.

Little to report.
But two new games I picked up today.
Condemned: Criminal Origins and Dead or Alive 4.
Expect me to write a little review for em later on.
In other news, I still suck at multiplayer Halo and Perfect Dark..
That'll be all.
