A boxing simulation game of sorts I'm looking into, it's interesting enough. Though I dont have a real match until Thursday, I've spent a good deal of time in practice and I quite like the way it works.
You have a gym. You create your boxer. You train him.
You get a match. You scout the competition, by viewing his previous matches and from there you build your tactics for your upcoming match and just hope you did well.
Havent had a real match yet and I like it already.
So tis worth a look.
If you know any other games in this vein (Boxing preferable, though other sports acceptable)Â feel free to post them too, I currently have a lot of time to kill and still another three weeks for my Xbox 360 so I'm toying around with this boxing game and a couple of other web games.

35 Minute Spore Gameplay Video
by dimsey on Comments
I just saw it, the gameplay video.
And like.. It looks amazing.
Better than I expected even.
Beforehand, though I liked the concept I had doubts of them being able to pull it off but I feel they can do it now after watching that.
Should be one amazing game/toy.

I just got around to Pre-ordering my Xbox 360 and I feel giddy!
Still 2-3 weeks to wait and it already feels like forever but I'ma getting it! Yay for me.
The game I'll first get with it however won't be anything I'm particularly interested in - I dont expect to see Fight Night 3 there for a bit and it's doubtful that we'll see Oblivion there either, curse living Down Under where we get things a few weeks late!
So.. Outta the few they had on display... Quake 4 was probably most interesting to me.. I liked the other Quake games enough..
So I'll probably be grabbing that..
Otherwise, Gun and Call of Duty 2 are backups.
But I already have Gun on the PC, I just cant run it particularly decently hence why I consider getting it on the 360 and and I'm not particularly interested in World War II shooters, too too many of them about, but it beats Tony Hawk: American Wasteland. God I hope they have more then what they had displayed cause the selection was pitiful but I dont care rawr i'ma getting it. wooo.

Super, man!

I just saw the new Superman trailer.. Flicky.
Looks sweet.
I just pray they dont pull a Superman 64 on us.
That game was disapointing.
Infact, pretty much any comicbook/superhero game that forces us to pick up power-ups in order to use a characters powers just ticks me off.
I didnt read the comics, but I've caught a fair share of Justice League Unlimited or whatever its called and not once did I see Superman have to pick up a power up!
Its a good thing that lately they've stayed away from such things.
No need for Power-ups in Spiderman 2.
No need for them in Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Just sweet games with powerful characters who dont need power ups to.. Power up.
Infact I'd use the basis for say Spiderman 2 for any potential Superhero games, honestly.
Give us a bigass city to be super in, sprinkle it with a few random crimes to solve, cats to get out of trees and balloons to return to childeren - throw a story in and battles with some of *insert character here* best known villans and I'd buy it everytime.

Spore and stuff.

I'm sure you've read the news about the likely hood that Spore will be coming to a handheld near you. I'm not particularly suprised.
Ever since I heard about it there was just something in the back of my head saying "This is gonna be a handheld title too" and there it is. *fingers crossed for a DS version*
The PC version sounds terrific but it'd be nice to have a version for on the go to, so to speak..
I know.. I generally play my Handhelds at home anyway, so theres no "on the go" - but heck, for the sake of completion I'd like the Handheld version as well.
I was playing Fight Night a moment ago and I kinda laughed at myself.. I was looking at the graphics. Now two odd years ago or whenever it came out I was like "These are pretty sweet graphics, all.. real and stuff"
And then I look at a Fight Night 3 trailer and I go "Are you sure this isn't some cinematic? Damn, now thats realistic looking, Fight Night original looks like a bloody cartoon in comparison" - and it does look cartoonish.
Lord knows why the hell I thought it was realistic at all.
But heck.
The Sims 2: Open For Buisness be out.
Probably actually give a week or so considering I'm Downunder, but I read the Gamespy review and I must say it looks sweet. Sometimes with The Sims I get bored just playing house, going to uni or dancing at some club. Sandbox type gameplay is excellent but sometimes, if you aren't feeling especially creative to come up with your own little stories and goals, you feel it lacks direction y'know?
The running of some kind of store could give some direction to an otherwise straightfoward simulated life, so am looking foward to opening my pink flamingo store. Hehe.
Enough for now I s'pose.

"Old School"
by dimsey on Comments
Was just browsing the forums, where there was a topic that asked what our favorite old school game was. Now most the games mentioned came out between say 96 and 2000.
Is that old school? I don't think so.
I'd go back another decade or so.
NES, Master System, Ataris, other older things I dont know the names of etc etc etc.
Pacman! Super Mario Bros! Donkey Kong! Faxanadu! Pong! Pitfall!
Not bloody Starcraft and The Sims.
Darn it people.
Oh well, what can you do.

So I did wind up picking up Rumble Roses, at $30 Aus it's well worth it. You could look at the score I gave it in my review and say I'm contradicting myself, a lot of people seem to think anything under an 8 is just crud.
But as it says right under the damned score, tis fair.
It's just above average. It's fine.
I quite like the game.
It just needs to be fleshed out more, so heres hoping it's Xbox 360 sequel accomplishes that.

Tis my birthday, woo.
19 years on this earth, 15 of which was spent gaming.
From my humble beginnings running away from goombas in Super Mario Bros, to employing intricate tactics in battle in Rome: Total War.
Gamer4Lyfe, yo!! :P
Tommorow will be shopping with the little money I got for my birthday and getting a bunch of cheap games, the best kind.
I've had my eye on Nba 06 awhile..
I enjoyed street hoops and back in the day, NBA Jam - the more arcadey games. I don't know exactly how realistic Nba 06 is, but it's the only Basketball games on the shelves round here, so will have to suffice and at a low price it doesnt really matter if it turns out to be crud.
Also had my eye on Rumble Roses, I enjoy Wrestling Games a whole lot - so this has nothing to do with the fact that the stars of this game are all large breasted, scantily clad, young ladies.
Thats not even a joke. I just enjoy wrestling.
(Games, though I enjoy watching WWE matches I can't stand all the "drama" and WWE's all we get down here)
And it sounds decent enough and at that price I cant really lose.
Otherwise, will see what turns up.

Zombie Tomfoolery 2, Getting Up Banned Down Under.
by dimsey on Comments
First things first.
I was playing Urban Dead just a moment ago, as I do..
Wandering around I come across a graveyard, bout 18 Zombies there. Spraypainted here it says "Revive point because it's ironic, don't kill the zombies"...
I can appreciate the irony, but telling me not to kill the zombies kinda goes against what the whole damned games about - People blasting zombies and zombies eating people.
So I blasted a Zombie to bits and managed to inflict a little damage on one before running out of ammo and retreating to a nearby police station. I may get labled a PKer, I may not - but thats pretty much what the whole damned game revolves around - Player Killing. Human players kill zombie players, zombie players kill human players.
To tell me not to do it is insanity.
Bah.
Second of all, if you've read the news you'll see that Getting Up game was banned down here in Oz.
Insanity.. I don't know much about it.
But it doesn't SEEM particularly violent.
Or anything.
And to ban it because of the grafitying would be insanity - it didnt cause The Warriors to be banned.
It wasnt taken out of San Andreas.
Sometimes I think them censorship/ratings folk have a humongous stick up their butts.
And now, I won't be able to rent the game.
I wont be able to buy it.
Apparently I cant import it either.
Bah.

Fight Night 3.. Just.. Wow!!
by dimsey on Comments
I played the first Fight Night game on the Xbox, it was possibly the best boxing game I've ever played.. Considering the only other boxing game I can recall with any decent amount of accuracy is Rocky Legends, this probably isn't suprising.
But Fight Night was awesome.
I wound up passing on number 2, there were just many other games coming out that commanded my attention, figured I might pick it up cheap sometime..
But forget that!
I just saw one of the Fight Night 3 gameplay for the Xbox 360 and just.. just... WOW!!!
It looks ABSOLUTELY gorgous!
I caught myself thinking that it might be just some cinematic, but some American friends fortunate to have a 360 and a demo of FN3 in their midst have aussured me it looks like that, better even.
I'm just gobsmacked!
And if the gameplay is as good as Fight Nights is well goddamn it's a must buy.
