I'm getting a a good deal on a dell vostro 1500 ($599). It seem pretty decent for gaming puposes. Will it be able to run games like Oblivion and Bioshock 2 without having to turn the graphics down too much?

If the screen is split in half and glitchy looking (i'm assuming that you see double screens) it has something to do with your progressive scan, possibly built into the TV, unless you are running the component cables through another component.

How does Riviera: The Promised Land compare to the Golden Sun series and Final Fantasy?

According to Wired Magazine, LCD prices have hit bottom.

I own a samsung lns3251d and have had absolutely no problems with it.  This was also the rare case where the price actually increased after I bought it. It was a pleasant surprise after years of purchasing other technology.

If you print out the page from their website, they will honor the online price (after verifying the price themselves). I did this with Best Buy. Brick and Mortar stores have higher overhead than the online warehouses, so they are justified in having higher prices. Always do research before purchasing.

What was the solution? I just got component cables and I'm having the same problem.

The hardware: PS2, Sony Component cables, Samsung 32" LCD, Final Fantasy 12

I can run component cables from DVD to TV with no problem.  I switch out the cables with the PS2 cables, and get a "mode not supported" or "wrong mode" or something similar (can't remember the exact error).  Is there a different setting on the actual PS2 that needs to be adjusted?

I was having problems with alternating green and red lines on my LCD tv. The component cables were picking up interference from my cheap composite (red/white) cables. I unplugged the composite cables and everything cleared up.

Galvatron,

OK, now I'm reconsidering my original decision.  I'm back to choosing between two LCD sets. Both are prtty identical except for the following (as far as i can tell).

1)Panasonic TC-32LX60.
Pros: high contrast ratio of 3000:1, has tuner
Cons: more expensive, 1 component input, no VGA input.

2)Toshiba 32HLC56.
Pros: cheaper, has 2 component inputs, VGA input (though I'm probably not going to connect a computer to it), Consumer Reports rated the 32HL66(slightly different model) as the highest rated in its class, but that may mean nothing.
Cons: lower contrast ratio (1300:1 according to Toshiba website), No internal tuner

I'm interested in playing DVD's, PS2 gaming, and the occasional TV show.  From an earlier question, you said that I'd be able to run the cable line through my VCR as a tuner - but a cable box is better.  I'm also aware that there are probably better deals out there, but I'm tied down with Best Buy gift cards.  Even though there are a few plasmas in my price range, I'm limited space-wise to a 32" (physically not wider than 35")

What are your recommendations?
