You know two mainstream articles proclaiming Sony the worst of E3, as hyped and pumped i was after seeing everything Sony had to offer, i really am afraid for gaming. Yea i know its mainstream media they dont know jack about games, but the problem is that they are mainstream thus more people are going to continue to see this crap and want a Wii because "its the cool thing to have" and i swear wiifitness is going to probably sell like hotcakes.

Sigh, im honestly sad for the possibility of that type of gaming future.

I think Killzone 2 looks great. However, it's very much different from the first trailer which featured frenetic, fast-paced combat in huge, destructible environments. The new trailer shows off much more modest gameplay - limited, mostly enclosed environments, much less stuff going on, overall the combat just doesn't seem as exciting. I honestly don't think this game deserves half the hype that surrounds it, and just like previous Guerrilla's games, I believe it's going to be a rather mediocre affair which will end up being eclipsed by other titles in the genre.

Personally I think the whole FPS = Hardcore gamers wants met, is becoming overblown and over saturated. I mean how many announce FPS's where there in all? Just too many. I don't see KZ2 being the better ot the FPS to come ot over the next 2 years.

This year alone we have Crysis, Halo 3, Unreal 3, Half life Episode 2, And Quake Wars...All just off the top of my head. To be honest the only reason I see this doing good is mainly since it is on a Sony platform and Sony pushing it...Ala Killzone one. A terrible game. But it was on PS2 with a huge Sony Hype train behind it.

Killzone was not a terrible game but that is a different thread.

As for how many FPS's there are, you have to take into account that only the diehardest of diehard FPS fans will buy all of them. They are all very different, and are all for different types of FPS fans.

No doubt. This is the Sony I wanted to see. Taking competition seriously and earning their support. But Halo 3, unimpressive Blackley? Geez, lol. Killzone definitely LOOKS better, but I still think Halo 3 looked more than good enough.

They really impressed me with the 1st-party stuff, most of it looked really solid. Hell, I saw more 1st-party Sony stuff that I liked than I did even for Nintendo. For the first time yet I'm actually seriously considering nabbing a PS3 soon.

Oilers, thanks for the reply. That's what I figured, but just wanted to be sure.

I had Halo 3 playing on my 360 and Killzone running off the less-than-stellar GameVideos, and the contrast between the two was simply jaw-dropping from just about every angle. Halo had some bad animation, too - check out the Brute picking up the human, when he's talking about turning the planet to glass. Some of the Warthog scenes look like they're straight out of the beta, too.

I'm not saying Halo was ugly or anything, only that it was outshined big time. BIG TIME. There's a generation's worth of difference between the visuals of the two games in my opinion.

Absolutely. Halo 3 is obviously part of a AAA franchise and has the advantage of pedigree, but Sony has managed to create a trailer that says "you better take us seriously, Bungie!". The production values in the cutscenes and gameplay are just on a whole new level, and manages to convey the tension and excitement even when you're just watching a video. Hopefully Bungie and MS didn't decide they could just coast on by with H3, because its quite clear that Son yand GG are taking the FPS genre quite seriously this time around.

KZ2 sure looked great, but some of us still haven't forgotten that fiasco with the original KZ2 trailer, this one looks more real, but you never know. Once proven a liar, its difficult to recover from that.

Second, Guerilla has much to prove. Guerilla's works to date have left much to be desired with the decidedly mediocre first Killzone game and their other bomb, Shellshock. I'll hold off on joining the bandwagon until I see some real actual gameplay.

You do realize that the game was playable and impressions are everywhere?

It also seems that the producer played the game for the crowd while everyone watching got the extended trailer.

Looks like Ken K and Kaz Hnot attendingE3 was a good move, they've made previous conferences god awfully boring.

Sony could show only the first and second party titles we know about and still be better than Microsofts showing tonight.

im hoping somone will clear this up for me...

80 G's is the max stock space, BUT they made this decision partially because they want us to download hi-def movies

now lets take a step back and remember that at the max a blu-ray can hold 50 gigs.... so wouldnt that mean that 1 movie would take up most of the space

im pretty sure that im wrong about somthin, but im not sure what it is..... somebody help

please relpy directly to my message

D_Reezy

Lots of different factors here. First yes a BD is either 25gigs or 50gigs, but a good portion of that space is used for different audio tracks, lossless audio, and extras. And the video portion of the movie is going to be encoded at a higher bitrate than download version for space.

So basically any hidef download movies while still looking good, will not look as good as HD optical disc and will at max have dolby digital.

[QUOTE="Paul_TheGreat"]The most important thing is that people can now get a PS3 that's $500.jedigemini
Just they were able to get the 20 GB model for $500 before it was discontinued due to lack of interest because it was viewed as the inferior SKU.

Uh no they werent, the 20gig hasnt been available since december, and it was officially dicontinued sometime in febuary or march i believe.

You can also get a 500 dollar PS3 + a free controller + 5 free blu-ray movies.
