The problem with developers these days is that they look at COD, Halo, etc., see them getting huge sales and therefore assume that every console game sells that way. Everyone thinks they have what it takes to create the next COD. In reality, the console FPS business is a cut-throat one. For many companies, it is better and less riskier to stay in niche genres with niche audiences. That way they can focus on what they're good at and will still make a ton of money.

Take Crytek. They would have been far more successfull with Crysis 2 had it been a PC exclusive, or maybe timed-exclusive with a later port to consoles, or even like what DICE is doing, where the PC is the lead platform. Had they created a true successor, both in terms of graphics and, most importantly, gameplay, PC sales would have been huge.

Consoles don't run games in 1080p either and are t 720p or less for the majority of titles I guess console games look hideous since they Aren't at 1080p of peoples HDTVs.
