@ziproy Is the government forcing you to buy things that are offensive to you? No. Is the government forcing me not to buy things I want to buy that may be offensive to YOU? Yes. So here's the deal; if you promise not to buy the things that offend you, you won't be offended. Instead, you take your morals and use them as a blanket statement for what should apply to everyone. It's your kind of attitude that leads to this ridiculous amount of political correctness in the first place. Oh, isn't it enough? Sometimes it isn't, and if whatever is being made isn't for you, don't buy it. Is it so difficult for people to ignore things they don't like? You do it with things you find boring, like bass fishing, so why should it be any different with a violent, sex driven video game? Might the children find it? Then take some responsibility for the first time in your life and be a decent parent, you worthless non addition to society.
Gaming censorship is hardly the most of our worries, considering that radio personalities have to apologize for throw-away comments on a daily basis and even stand-up comics can't speak their minds freely anymore without immediately twittering an apology and subsequently becoming a talking head for whatever group they offend. The problem is that Americans mistake the freedoms our government gives us for the right to be not offended by anything ever, regardless of how menial an offense. I would prefer to be persecuted verbally on a daily basis and have people speak their minds freely than to live in the world of fake tolerance and fear that America has so openly welcomed with open arms. Mark Twain said that censorship is like telling a man he can't have a steak because a baby can't chew it. It's shocking that society is willing to ignore the great wisdom of our best and brightest ever in favor of people like Gloria Allred and Al Sharpton who profit off of fake controversy the themselves create. The censorship of games is perhaps one leaf on the massive, deep rooted tree that is American political correctness.
Gotta be honest, I don't understand all the people who want it to be more like Saints Row. From a business perspective, a quality perspective...even from their own perspective. How many ridiculous clownish shooters do you need? I'm not even saying they're bad, but its just it seems like Saints Row would satisfy the need to do this ridiculous nonsense, which I do enjoy on occasion via Gamefly rentals. The GTA games are simply better for a mature audience, and I don't mean one that's old enough, I mean qualitatively mature. I love GTA, not because it's controversial or some stupid reason like that. I love these games because they are intelligent satires that often have real emotions and a quality of storytelling found only in excellent movies. Compelling writing, characters, and missions in a world filled with relevant and cutting satire that goes completely over the heads of people who don't take the time to notice it. I miss selling drugs out of an ice cream truck. And having my own gang of guys with Jewfros.
awesome song, pretty game, leaves me with more questions than answers. I just wish that they had in fact gotten Ray Liotta to do Tommy Vercetti in GTA: SA. The best character in an amazing setting.
I don't know why every comment seems to be anti-GTA 4. I really, really liked it just as I really, really liked the other Grand Theft Auto games. If you didn't like it simply because it has a more serious tone than the stupid, arcade, supercharged Redbull drinker's delight that is Saints Row, then I don't think you're allowing video games the same courtesy that a movie has, in that it allows for introspection, character development, real plot movements, etc. If video games are indeed art, then perhaps they should tackle issues of vengeance, revenge, and loss. Of course, everyone's entitled to their thing but don't say it sucked just because it was too mature for you. I won't say Saints Row sucks, because I know it appeals to an audience of people who want something less intense plot-wise.
DOTA 2 is gonna be better than LoL graphics wise and hopefully gameplay wise but I doubt that it will get as many players. especially considering the huge headstart in release date LoL had.
the difference if you go from low to ultra is noticeable, but each progressing lower level from ultra to ultra w/o ubersampling to high, etc. is not as different as i would've thought. great job scaling by CD Projekt. I wanna buy CD Projekt so that Activision and EA can't.
