How far are you prepared to go to save someone you love?

The truly next-gen game is almost here and it's name is:

Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer

Quantic Dream's new next-gen gaming experience raises the bar to unprecedented heights for how games should look and act. This tech demo, so far the only video of the game out yet, is shot completely in real time, even though it looks better than most pre-rendered scenes. Heavy Rain is due out in Fall 2008 exclusively for the PS3 to truly take advantage of the system. Little is known what the game is about except what's shown in the promotional poster:

Watch: Heavy Rain: The Casting Tech Demo

Writer and director David Cage has noted Heavy Rain as being a "very dark film noir thriller with very mature themes". Unlike Fahrenheit, or Indigo Prophecy in the US, Heavy Rain contains no supernatural elements. While details on the story are scarce as of now, it will contain an interactive and bendable story similar to Fahrenheit. If the scenes from the tech demo turns out to be part of the story from the game, Heavy Rain should be one powerful, emotionally-charged roller coaster ride.

Indigo Prophecy

I'm a sucker for story-driven games, and from what I've played, it's been a bumpy ride for them.

Over the summer I rented Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and it proved to me that a game can screw itself in every single way just like any book or movie. (Seriously, the game didn't have to end like that...) Luckily, I had HL2 to keep me sane.

...And speaking of sanity, this morning I bought Indigo Prophecy over the Xbox Originals service, and by the time the game ended, I was extremely pleased with the 'movie' that had just played out, as I'm sure Omgimonfire can attest to.

Edit: Review is up.

Spoiling Christmas...

Have you ever accidently spoiled a holiday or birthday gift for yourself?

Well, yesterday, on the drive home, I decided to look for a piece of gum. Lo and behold, what else could be sticking out of my mom's purse? No other than The Orange Box. Now, while this is certainly reassuring, at the same time, it kinda feels like I spoiled the holiday for myself. Oh well, just thought this humorous.

Best video game story ever?

So to hardcore gamers who may or may not be fans of BioWare, Mass Effect may not come across as one of the greatest games ever made in terms of gameplay, but it would be hard to deny, by anyone, that there exists a better example of what VGs are capable in terms of storytelling. Yes, ME is the best VG story ever told, and it evenbeats most movies, especially those today.

A whole new level of immersion...

I don't think Mass Effect could achieve a much higher level of 'epicness', as shown by the latest extended launch trailer recently put up on http://masseffect.bioware.com/ . Right below the giant Mass Effect title, there is a flashing icon that says "Incoming Transmission". That should lead you right to the trailer.

I could also do a huge post about the characters, background story, events, gameplay, etc. if you have any questions...

Gonna be gone for awhile...

My stupid modem burned out so I won't be have any access to the internet until I can get it replaced.

Luckily, I've been able to go to omgimonfire13's house and get a connection...

Hm, let's see, all I'll be preoccupied with this month is Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Assassin's Creed, and most of all, Mass Effect!

Quick question...

A friend of mine desperately wants me to read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, question is, is it worth reading?

If you've by chance read it, I'd like to hear your opinion of it...

Happily Obsessed...

Yeah, it's official, I'm obsessed with Jericho, as if you couldn't tell from my last slew of blog posts. :)

Without a single doubt, Jericho is one of the greatest games of recent history (in my opinion, of course). The Jericho squad has to be some of my favorite characters ever, in a game or otherwise. I love what Clive has created, the premise and characters are just so well thought out. This game easily blew Halo 3 out of my mind, which I haven't even touched in a week, not to mention BioShock, while better than Halo 3, still doesn't compare to Jericho.

If what matters to you in a game is the story and its characters, then you should definately consider Jericho, for it delivers. The game will have you both laughing your ass off and screaming "NOOOO!!!" at the TV while chucking your controller to the other side of the room.

Thank god this is a trilogy...

Okay, ...so tomorrow means Jericho!

This is what I hate about games...the day they say they release, they ship. Why can't they just say they release on the day that stores actually get it... Oh well, at least this way it gave me a chance to preorder Mass Effect
