@Smosh150: I agree that "asymmetric" multiplayer is much more interesting. I'd naturally guess that most developers end up making competitive games "symmetric" because it's much easier to balance. Hell, little to zero balancing would even be required for a "symmetric" multiplayer game. Starcraft immediately comes to my mind when I think of brilliantly executed asymmetric multiplayer.

@keithlemon: Are people not supposed to comment on things they don't like?

@Smosh150: You and I seem to be very much in the same boat. I had a lot to drink before posting my insulting response to you. Generally, I try to avoid things like this when I'm drunk, because I often end up regretting what I said. For full disclosure, I'm drunk again right now as well.

You were absolutely right that I was aware of how insulting my words were and it was rude of me. It sounded clever to me at the time and I often commit to things that seem creative or funny. When I'm not sober, creativity, art. and humor seem so important no matter what the cost.

Getting back to our discussion though, my argument was primarily that I don't feel like people should be expected to state, "this is my opinion", because it's naturally implied most of the time. This is a topic that I've seen on forums several times. It's always annoyed me, and I suppose my personal attack towards you might have been a result of my built up tension on the subject.

You brought up a great point that saying, "no offense" typically doesn't make anyone any less offended. In some cases, it's an indication that the person saying it is ignorant IMO. There are some situations where the phrase could be meaningful I suppose, such as when a person complains about a category of people, then realizes the person they're talking to is in that category... Still, I suppose the phrase wouldn't help the situation if a person was already offended.

As someone who is not easily offended, I'm often inconsiderate of others perspective on the matter. Anyways, I apologize for my rudeness as well. It's refreshing to meet someone online like you who is so open and accountable. I hope that the same could be said about me :)

@Ripper_TV: I thought that Aria of Sorrow was really good. Other than that, I played each GBA and DS game in the series, but none of them came close to the quality of SoTN. Handheld titles rarely seem to provide an experience on the same level as console and PC games for me.

I got the impression that Iga really wants to re-create the aspects that made Symphony of the Night so good, so I chipped in. Only time will tell, but I'd be very surprised if Bloodstained doesn't turn out to be a great game.

Edit: and you were right, there was no correlation between my comment on your profile pic and your comment I responded to.

@Smosh150: Right away, I want to disagree with you about an issue. Everything that everyone says can be considered an opinion. Please don't expect people to clarify, "this is only my opinion but..." You're a smart person, do you like it when someone implies something to you instead of stating it explicitly? Alternatively, do you like it when someone clarifies something for you that you already knew because it was obvious to you?

If I say something like, "Such a disappointment. Everything these days HAS to be multiplayer. BULLSHIT!", you would be at a disadvantage if you couldn't tell that it was an opinion. Would you prefer that it was stated like, "It's just my opinion, but this was such a disappointment. I feel like everything these days HAS to be multiplayer. This is BULLSHIT in my opinion."

Please listen to my opinion on that. The second option is wasting words and assuming that the reader is inept.

After a little bit of thought, I'm wondering if you have a condition. I know that sounds like an insult, but I don't mean it that way. Color blind people have a difficult time differentiating between things that seems obvious to you and me. Do you have a difficult time determining whether or not things would be obvious to a reader?\

Edit: Don't worry about it. You can be my friend. Although that was not implied in the post, it is always implied that you and me are spending time with each other with every word we speak.

@Smosh150: It looks like the person you were speaking to must have deleted their comment. I'm going to comment on your original comment in this thread:

It's funny to me how you seem somehow offended by a person expressing their preference.

Your suggestion was, "go play another game if you don't want to play mp. " Isn't that what's going to happen without your priceless advice?

You might notice that @Ripper_T's comment currently has 14 upvotes. That's because other people agree with the sentiment he expressed. Yeah, it's just a fucking opinion and some of us like to explore the comments section here just to read the opinions of others.

It seems to me that your statement was an attack against someone for expressing them-self. Did I mis-interpret that?

@Ripper_TV: Says the man with Alucard walking as his profile pic. Seriously though, mad respect for that gif :)

I have to bring up Harmony of Despair of course. I'm curious what you thought about it. For me, it was a fun experiment into playing Castlevania with others in co-op. It's pretty amazing that such a thing ever happened IMO. As cool as the game was, it didn't hook me like other Castlevania games did. As soon as that multiplayer aspect was introduced, the purpose of the game became more like Diablo.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was an adventure. Harmony of Despair was a sport.

By any chance, did you chip in for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night?

Edit: I'd dare to say that Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to Castlevania.
