Rechargeable battery packs are, what, $12 or something? I'm not exactly sure how much 2 AA batteries are, but I'm pretty sure you'll make up the cost in a few months. I have had the same battery pack for over a year now, still works.
You can change a setting to start a download, then turn the console off. Your xbox will continue to download the file, then completely shut off automatically. I think it's either in your system settings blade or in your gamertag/profile settings, not sure. Sorry, I can't get on my console right now to find out for you exactly where it is.
33 and it doesn't bother me too much. I've had over a year of no problems. I can see how those who pay month to month would be steamed though. I prepay for the year, and I play offline for the majority of the time, so M$ still has my love.
It's a known issue with M$, anti-piracy "feature" that's supposed to prevent sharing XBLA titles. Your original license for downloaded XBLA games is attached to your gamercardAND the hardware you downloaded it to. If you aren't connected to Live, you may only play the trial version if you aren't using original hardware. For example, I had downloaded several games, then my xbox RROD'd. I was able to redownload everything for no extra charge, however, I can only play the full version now when I'm connected. They said in March '07 they were working on a fix- there's an article about this in OXM (OXM Jan '08, issue #79).
XNA is a set of gaming framework libraries, and I'm pretty sure it was written using C#. You need to use it with Visual Studio, either the free versions (C# Express), orI think itcan also beused with the professional versions now too. You're not limited in what you can create with it, but you will need other tools, and you are probably limited by what you are allowed to publish on xbox live. Go to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/xna/default.aspx for information.
