I have Vista and no major problems.... I did a full install though and not just the upgrade. Have only had a few video driver issues. You do need the hardware to run it and yes DX10 is going to be awesome. I have been playing around with the Nvidia DX10 Cascade demo on Nzone and its pretty cool.

[QUOTE="dtrem1"]By the end of the year you wont "need" a DX10 card but you sure as hell are going to "want" one.... Stop trying to fight evolution guys, some of us want more realism in our games.Tequila_Zaire

It's not about fighting evolution...it's about not spending $600 on a new card for features that few games will really use. We've all been through the DX hype machine before and most know you NEVER buy first generation cards of new DX features anyhow. The smart thing to do is wait at least till the 2nd generation of DX 10 cards hit next year.

K, keep playing with your DX9 card for 5 years, then. (A touch bit of a long time dont you think?) I will play Crysis and SC and others THIS year the way they are meant to be played. Like I said, want vs need.

[QUOTE="DarkRecruit"][QUOTE="Terrorantula"]

COH imo is a MUCH better game, supcom just has tooo many flaws.

Terrorantula

Like....? Only flaw I see is the pathfinding, and that's only sometimes. And if you're saying you can't run it on max, run it on medium maybe? What if medium was max?

Flaws:

- Cameras need work
- Ui take sup too much of the screen
- single player is not good
- Bland units
- Bland boring maps
- base building is just doing the same thing over and over again, gets pretty boring after awhile
- On multiplayer with mates all it becomes about is NUKES, which you can't seem to turn off
- Lacking features and modes and ability to turn stuff off and customise it abit
- Sounds arnt great tbh

I dunno the whole thing just felt uncomplete and needs work, where as COH was much more polished apart from dodgey lag in multiplayer once in awhile.

Do you have the game??? Some of your points are kinda right (the nukes one is anyways....) but then you say UI takes too much of the screen. The latest patches fixed that and added a new UI. If you are only playing the demo you really should reserve your opinion. Anyways, I have both games and SC is the choice if you want a game that will keep you busy for months, CoH is awesome but i pretty much been there done that.

Cause YOU said, I believe you, LOL. Please keep telling me how MY 8800GTX performs... hahahaha. Please post pics and specs of your beast, cause it must be one hellova one. Oh ya, try CoD 2, Company of Heroes, Oblivion, Medieval Total War 2 and FSX (esp FSX) on your computer maxxed at 1680 X 1050 and we shall talk, lol.  My 20" "Fantastic" monitor is actually quite good. I dont need 30" to view a game and I refuse to run SLI to maintain that kind of resolution (I have a X360 and a LCD TV for larger sizes....)  Man, are you two just board trolls, how old are you guys? This is hilarious.  I better start reading The Inquirer like you guys, your right Toms isnt accurate like them.

This is still going??

Oh ya, about bottlenecking, yes it bottlenecks, sorry to say. Im playing at 1650 X 1080 with games maxxed and my CPU does not keep up with the video card.  Tests on Toms HW verify this:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/29/geforce_8800_needs_the_fastest_cpu/index.html

and helped me choose to upgrade from my lowly 4800X2.

So, again I ask, what are you guys pairing with your supposed R600s that you are yappin about?? I cant wait to see your rigs, cant wait.

OK guys, enough is enough, I gotta go play some games on my 8800 GTX, will talk later. How your R600s working for you? Ive had my 8800 GTX since November.....

I did a clean install...And lost everything..But I wanted to start fresh anyways.

TheDarthvader
What? You mean you lost everything in your other partitions aswell? Or just the drive in which you were installing vista? thanx dtrem for the link. BTW, whats the difference in the link i posted?

You need the ones for Nforce 4 Ultra, your link was for 430/450 or whatever. Probally the same, but better safe.
