Braindead (Dead Alive) movie review

First off, hands down, this is the GORIEST movie I've ever seen in my life. There's so much blood and gore and guts and outrageously gross body deforming that you're mind is gonna be blown until the end of the movie. Braindead isn't a horror movie, not at all, it's just a constant onslaught with some hilarious moments here and there.

The movie begins with two explorers searching for a monkey, a demon monkey to be more precise, of course because of the lust for money. The local tribals warn them about the curse that could set upon them but they didn't listen and took the monkey at the zoo. The whole story revolves around Lionel and his girlfriend Paquita who were meant to be toghether. Lionel's mom doesn't want his son to leave her, marriage being a constant threat for her so she always keeps an eye out for potential wives for his son ( which as a boy, I must admit Lionel is pretty cute).

Lionel and Paquita will fall in love, and oh god what a coincidence, their dating place is the zoo where the cursed monkey is trapped, how I haven't figured this out... dumb me, anyway, as Lionel's mother spies on them from the bushes she gets bitten by the demon monkey (or rat I don't even know what it looks like). "Mum" (because she has no actual name in the movie, even the cast proves this) falls sick and starts to act really weird. The pudding scene was by far the grossest one, search on youtube: "braindead pudding scene" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Soon enough his mom turns into a zombie. It stuns me how calm Lionel can be. His mom is clearly a zombie, and after she infects 3 more people (Nurse McTavish, the Priest, and a thug from the cemetery, btw, watch the scene where the father says " I kick ass for the lord" it's hilarious) he still keeps his calm and he even keeps all the 4 zombies locked in his house! I won't spoil anymore of the fun, go watch the movie, it's damn worth the time.

Almost there!

There is 1 week and a half left 'till Christmas Vacation and I can't friggin' wait. Even though I have to take the exam at the romanian language tuesday, I won't let nothing to stand in my way. So many titles to be released, so many presents to receive, so many candies to snatch off the Christmas Tree, this is the most wonderful time of the year. I've got some plans in mind too, the main plan being to buy the f****** awesome HD 5770. I really need it, 'cause I want to enjoy my games at their best visual potential, you know what I mean. I feel that my rusty 9500 GT is starting to weaken day by day and I'm really afraid that some day it won't be capable to run the newest game. I am still surprised that it can run Hot Pursuit (the new one) at 1680x1050 with maximum details. It served me well, no doubt.

I wish you all a happy Christmas, good luck with school and stuff!

Google Chrome is faster?

I think I've been using Firefox as my default browser since I had internet. And that's roughly 2 years. I thought mozilla is the fastest, until I discovered Google Chrome, which strangely is faster.

1) The boot-up time

Google Chrome starts in a blink of an eye, while Firefox takes a couple of seconds, plus that GC consumes 10 MB in the processes tab while Firefox takes 40 MB

2)Speed

Before trying out GC I thought Mozilla was really fast, but it's still inferior to GC. And I'm not a "Google Chrome fanboy" I have arguments to back up my opinions. It seems that every page in GC loads faster than in Mozilla. I'm really not lying, even though I ain't got no sophisticated timing devices it's visible with the eye that GC is loading pages faster. Try for yourself, I swear I'm not lying.

BUT

Google Chrome has it's downsides too. The first thing is that it has a much poorer gallery of add-ons than mozilla and a stupid and incredibly strange design choice, guess what, GC won't save your pages if you quit, and it's not something changeable from the settings, no, it's just the way things are. Luckily, the problem has been partially solved with an add-on called "Session Manager" which allows you to restore tabs, only if you save them manually. But even so, I still prefer speed rather than a tweak.

Your opinion, please?

Classic games review: No#1- Ninja Gaiden 1 (NES)

For many of us, Ninja Gaiden was the most beautiful gaming experience we could possibly dream of back then. But man it was hard! In fact it's among the toughest NES games ever made, and why not, one of the hardest games ever to be conceived by human brain. All facts aside, Ninja Gaiden revolutionized an entire industry, by being the first game EVER to have cutscenes and a solid backstory(which most of the NES games back in the day missed). Done some research and found out that the total amount of time spent watching cutscenes(if you watched them) was roughly 24 minutes. 24 minutes of cutscenes for a NES game??? Keep in mind that technology was in the earlier stages back then, and we're lucky if we got a tiny page of text once in a while to present the storyline.

But beyond this, NG is even more, it's a fantastic game with a very very alert pace that kept you moving on and on, taking it slowly would just bring you unnecessary trouble. This is that type of game you can REALLY prove how badass and how skilled you are at playing video games, because there was always an opportunity to latch walls and bang the living hell out of the enemies with style. And if style wasn't your cup of tea, you could prove your mastery by trying to beat the later stages(which were as hard as ****, especially Act 5 and 6). Ninja Gaiden took a simple concept to a whole new level of coolness. This game was just cool, everybody talked about it at school, through phone and stuff. I think what it makes it most fun and addictive ( yes it is addictive) is the pacing. It keeps you in motion, and if you take it slowly, as I said before, you'll get in deep trouble. Like, this was side-scrolling at its finest, it's not like in Castlevania where you could take it a bit slowly(don't get me wrong Castlevania is an awesome game). In NG you were moving fast, acting fast, killing fast and jumping high. No matter how strong you are, how good are your wall-climbing skills, how many ninja outfits you have, no matter how high you jump and no matter how many jutsus you know you CAN'T BE a true ninja until you don't beat this game.

P.S I had just beat this game today, and it was an amazing feeling that no other game gave me up to date.

Next time I'll be reviewing Castlevania, and have a nice day, and sorry for this big article.

He's so badass.

Again?????

I was trying to contend with the idea that the article on metacrtic was just a bad joke, when all of a sudden a text pops in the upper right corner of the screen "On Metacritic: 15 best horror movies since 2000" and I said "Ok, this can't be bad". But I was awfully wrong. Well it's not as bad as the previous one but it still sucks and is so poorly detailed. For instance, Shaun of The Dead is on the 5th place?? Keep in mind that it's "since 2000" and this movie is not a horror one, rather more of a parody to Dawn of the Dead, wtf?? Also, Zombieland on the 9th place, wtf, Zombieland is just flirting with horror, it's not a horror movie, I watched it and it was quite hilarious at time. I mean there were so many to choose from and they picked recent horror movies which sucks. Also, Sweeny Todd: The demon barber? It's a musical with some horror elements but not a horror movie. I retreat my words, this is even worse than the previous one because "it's since 2000" and there were so many in that year that were great horror movies and they had to pick recent ones which sucks. I am blown away.

Metacritic, what's wrong with you?

I was just hanging around on gamespot when I saw a link redirecting to an article on metacritic called "Best and Worst Horror Video-Games". I love tops, I mean I enjoy reading a good top of something as long as it's well done. But this article especially it's horryfing, poorly made and misleading. What the hell is Plants vs. Zombies doing on the second place of best horror games on X360??? What were they thinking? Oh but that's not all, on top of that, they included 4 Castlevania titles for various platforms( Castlevania a horror game????), Bioshock(it has some scary moments but it's not a horror game). And the list continues, just see for yourself. This article is just a joke, an abomination, I'm a gamer and I'm just offensed. Even if you don't know s*** about games you know downright for the cover that PvZ it's NOT a horror game. Really now, who wrote the article is a real idiot.

Whoa!

I've really been into modern warfare 2 online these days, and I discovered my secret talent, using the Intervention. In only 2 hours of constant gameplay with the Intervention I unlocked 5/6 attachements and I still got a lot to do. I can't believe it, I'm really good at it, using the quickscoping trick. Currently using Intervention with FMJ and an ACOG scope(I love it). But there's one thing I'm really afraid of. With CoD: Black Ops right off the corner I'm concerned that few people will be playing after the release of Black Ops, and that's a shame because there's so many things left to do. See you around guys, and thanks for reading.

So...what's up?

Wow, it's almost a month since I haven't posted on the blog, school is really tiresome, and I can barely play a MW2 match because of it. Less time for gaming it seems... even so, I got my hands on two sweet games: Darksiders for the PC, and Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light. Really cool games, especially Darksiders, because PC hasn't got as many beat 'em up(like God of War I mean) titles as the consoles. I must point out that Darksiders was very very well ported on the PC. The controls are smooth as any PC title, no problems with camera. Lara Croft:GOL is a great game, but I'm dissappointed that it doesn't play out as the previous titles. That's pretty much all, but what about you? How's the school going? What games are you playing currently? See you around guys!

School Time's Up

It's really frustrating when you think that the summer holiday passed out so fast, isn't it? I'm sad because it ended so soon, but probably the worst thing about this is... the school. Now, I can't say I didn't have fun at school(some days) but for the most of the time it sucks. BTW, the scholar year starts on september 13th here in my country. What about yours?

Well, what can I say more. Good Luck at school and let's hope for the best :)
