SWG before the devs screwed it up

If it's "fairly powerful" and you are upgrading to 4gb then go for 64 bit Vista.
I barely have any issues
Hell IMO I enjoy Vista better than XP, don't see why you don't already have vista. But yes defintely upgrade to Windows 7. The only people who suffer from Vista and possibly windows 7 are people with out dated computers that need to get with the times.
I don't know man, you get what you pay for. I have THIS one, and it's WAY better than Acer by more than a mile, and it's still subpar for gaming. Movies are fine, and the color is great, the main issue is motion blur. I guess it depends on the game, but any time I move in Neverwinter Nights 2 the screen turns into a blur of color. This did not happen with my old Viewsonic p95f+ CRT. It didn't even happen with my old 60hz 800x600 Mac monitor 10+ years ago. I checked out that Acer at J&R and it's worse than my Viewsonic in every department. I'd stay away if I were you. Plus, it doesn't have an HDMI input. My understanding is that it means it's not fully HDCP compliant. d-rtyboy
You don't need to have an HDMI port for it to be HDCP.
Second of all, yes the Acer monitor has an HDMI port.
Don't talk about piracy ruining PC Gaming. Look at blizzard, all of their games have been succesful. Why is it that piracy is not a huge problem for them? Because not only are their single player portion amazing but their multiplayer is amazing. They also optimize their games really well unlike a lot of lazy developers.
Man that monitor is really good. I never regret buying it. I'm just happy I was able to finally expierence 1080p :) (1920x1080)
What games do you play that are putting strain on your 4870?
Domobomb
Only game I could think of for OP would have to be Crysis. As for me the only problem is I chose 512 instead of 1gb :( at the time I had a monitor that had 1440x900, I later got a 1080p monitor. Plus I only have one pci-E on my GA EP45-DS3L.
Well that's not good for a CPU. That's an acceptable temperature for a GPU under stress, hmm is your heat sink installed properly? My E8500 is OC'd to 400*9.5 at 1.28V and the it wont pass 60 degrees
Honestly i'd wait. I have a HD4870 512mb and I decided to wait until January to see what I should do.
Well for 3.16ghz that's pretty high. What's your voltage set at? Maybe the heat sink isn't installed properly. I guess if you have a stock heat sink that could be the reason but ya 60 degrees celsius isn't anything to freak out about
