@clockworkengine: I will say its been very nice to have the 3080 because Its given me the opportunity to run games at 4K with settings I normally run on 1440p resolutions .
The 3080 is definitely a very nice and reliable card that I'm glad to have nabbed given the circumstances.
I will add though that anyone at 1440p with a similar or lower card would still be in a very good place for the coming games like RE8. You are certainly getting a sharper image and some extra immersion with 4k resolutions, but you'd be surprised how similar the image is to 1440p.
What I recommend most people to do is to forget getting a new card and instead get a new TV. Specifically the LG CX or the incoming C1. Here you will see the most drastic improvement in image quality.
PS: The 2080 is a great card, glad you held on to it. Its not that far at all from the 3080 and I'm sure you can manage 4k with it! I had a 980ti before I got a 3080, so I was in need of an upgrade!
@yakitysmakity: Yes, Control makes very good use of DLSS I agree. Cyberpunk was also nice if you need the extra fps, the option is there which is great. I am still waiting for that game to be patched lol. Good things come to those who wait.
I think as for RE8 and a 2070 super you will be doing very well. I also think anyone picking up RE8 for the PS5 will be super happy as graphically it looks quite good. Not to mention the Dualsense is sure to bring some unique layer to the already very immersive experience RE games provide.
I think with this RE title you cant go wrong either way. Happy gaming when that time comes!
@clockworkengine: Death Stranded runs fantastically on DLSS for sure. But next time you boot the game. With DLSS, take a look at the mountain ranges off in the distance. You might see the weird graphics and disjointed colors specs I see consistently when I play. I do have a 3080 so I do have the option to run the game with DLSS off. And that is what I usually do, just keep it off.
I do hope and expect DLSS to improve further in the future.
@jinzo9988: Very spot on with what I experienced in Cyberpunk and other titles with DLSS. I do see some utility in DLSS when its used sparingly and when you are trying to achieve certain settings it does give you that flexibility. But generally If I can manage the settings I want or feel I need without it, I would certainly keep it off for the more crisp image.
@yakitysmakity: DLSS can be effective, but its atrocious in Death Stranded and its just ok in Metro Exodus. What other titles have given you good experiences?
Btw Id still play Village on PC over PS5. On the PS5 maiden demo scene with the chandelier I did see some frame drops. It wasn't terrible maybe 5-8 fps, besides that the game looked and played very well. I was impressedactually, but I think It can look better on PC. For those with just the PS5, I think they will be very pleased nonetheless.
@lostn: that my friend is something I will need to test as soon as this title is available. Rest assure controllers are confirmed by the developers of this game. And Apple themselves sell Dualshocks 4’s on their websites for gaming.
