I did, though. I'm just saying even though certain franchises get rehashed.. there's mostly a creativity behind it. You can look at Super Mario Galaxy that way. It's not a particularly hard game. But the gameplay and the way you can traverse the planets and galaxies is really fun.
"Fun" is a relative concept. You can say the new Zelda or the new Mario offered new ideas, but I disagree. It may be a different approach, but it's conceptually the same game it was before, albeit through a more advanced medium. And although you can make the case for a select few games, MOST Nintendo games rely on the face to sell it. They do not want to create a new face because they're afraid it won't sell. It's as simple as that. Nintendo is NOT the only one to be guilty of that. But I find they do it more than anyone. And at that point, they're the problem, not the solution.Again, I agree. I happen to think SMB/SMB2 are fun games because of the intriguing gameplay and .. I love Mario games. Except Sunshine. That was balls. And Mario is Missing was pretty bad too. Slightly off topic, anyone ever play Mario's Time Machine on SNES? That was kindofa cool game. My kids played it for the educational aspect in it.
Either way, with how many faces Nintendo has... if I were in their shoes, I wouldn't try and create another lovable character, either. I mean.. Kirby, Link, Mario, Samus, Star Fox... they're definitely the faces of Nintendo. I wouldn't mind seeing a new kick ass Kid Icarus, though. Or Skate or Die!
