I wish people would stop bashing console fanboys and start bashing game fanboys / stupid gamers. There were so many people saying "oh its just $5 more" to the PC version of Modern Warfare 2. Evertime I saw that, I wanted to kick them in the teeth. I bet Activision goes through with this, there are going to be people saying "its only $10 for Activisions online service".

Look Grim0187, have you even seen a patch thats 100kb? Im talking about the simple patches that fix bugs. Not even patches are 100kb or less so how can this 100kb DLC add two new maps. Game companies arent going to come out and admit that their DLC is actually an unlock key but anyone with a brain can assume that with confidence.

Are you standing by your view because you truly feel that way or because you are stubborn? Forget about this DLC unlock code. Are you willing to acknowledge that companies will do dirty things that they can get away with to make money? If you answer yes to that question, and hopefully you will, then what makes you think they wont make a unlock key to unlock content already on a disc? They certainly can get away with it.

Because I dont believe everyone is out to get me. I deal with alot of people who are gamers who actually WORK for game developing companies. They love what they do and all of them do it because they have a passion for gaming NOT money. They could have done anything with a programming degree but they chose gaming.

Now why would those SAME people wanna rip off their freinds and family by making a game that has some super secret "unlock code" for content thats on the disc. Does that crap even exist? Highly doubt it....

grim0187

The reason for the pack by my best reasoning isfor apublicity stunt. besides the normal dlc profits they can easily promote the game with free dlc. people are losing interest in the game and they want to keep it alive as much as possible. What's your point of defending this dlc to the end of time? first you're telling people how great this dlc is, then you tell how little content it has to tell how it could fit on 100 kb. show us your game design degree, tell us where your "friends" work and we'll believe you. You're the one that needs proof.

I dont need any proof at all. Its common sense. How the hell can a machine read a disc and NOT read certain parts of it until a special little key is purchased? DLC doesnt come off the disc, its bought through the internet and played off of your hardrive.

Why do you think they release DLC on seperate discs?

Im defending it because as I was reading through this thread, I see a bunch of ludicrouse claims that companies are out to get us and they have some secret special code that they hold from us and charge extra and its effing ridiculous. Then I ask for proof and all I get is comparisons to things that arnt even games!

A game is made differently then a word document. Maybe 100 kb on a game can be utilized more? How do you know? You dont. All of you just ASSUME that the companies are out to get you because you want everything for FREE. Gaming is an expensive hobby and if you dont wanna drop a dime on it, I suggest you start collecting stamps.

It has been done before. Look at Street Fighter 4. They have costumes on the disc but you cant use them unless you buy the unlock key. People arent making this stuff up.

Youre like a public urinal on this thread allowing us to urinate in your mouth. Just stop man.

DLC just shouldnt exist IMO, not even to expand the life of a game.

Games should just be released and go down in history being what they were at launch and not what devs turned them into after DLC just like how a movie or a book is what it was 10 years ago when it was released. If you look at your older collection of games, Legend of Zelda is Legend of Zelda. Everything is there. If you look at your collection of games from this generation, Call of Duty isnt Call of Duty. Its only Call of Duty 1.0, but you can make it 2.0 if you own all the map packs and missions the developers have included in the DLC.

Besides, all this time and work can be used to make the sequel or a different game. But if this happened, then it would suck for Team Fortress 2 players. :? So I guess really free DLC is the way to go.

Because none of you have any proof to back up what your claiming. Your just acting like you know how a game is built and you compare it to things that ARNT games.

The DLC adds two new multiplayer maps and a new weapon.

grim0187

How do we know you're not "just speculating"? It dosn't take a degree to tell that 100 kilobytes is just 100 kilobytes of measly data to print all your textures and menus and animation on. If you say you knowhow games are built downloadGame Maker and show us something competent under 100 kilobytes.

Well its been done before. No matter how you put it, 100kb is 100kb.
