[QUOTE="raskullibur"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"][QUOTE="everquestlove"]I can't believe somebody who grew up in the Intellivision days considers the current generation to have the best games. It's not possible, I don't believe you

Does it look like I care if you believe me or not? And having been on these boards a long time, I can tell you I am not the only older gamer who feels like I do. Sure, a whole lot of people love the nostalgia of what games were like when they were kids, so do I. The problem I think is that I still play a lot of the older games, and I can therefore remember that the vast majority of older games, like games now, are poor. Very few games are as great now as you think you remember them as.

Granted, some games are timeless, but there are also modern classics out now. Its also true that IMO too many gamers are spoiled and love to bash any game that gets popular, even the slightest. Just look at how people love to tear down the games many consider great, like GTA IV, MGS4, Halo, Gears, SMG, LBP, Oblivion, Crysis, I could just keep going.

I noticed those who dislike the current generation of games are Nintendo fanboys, I too grew up with the Atari 2600/NES I still find today's games interesting and fun to play..

wrong. I preferred the Genesis over SNES, but N64 over Playstation

Because multitaps on both the Sega Megadrive/Genesisand SNESwere around before N64, as well as the famous J-carts from Codemasters for games like Micro Machines.

4 ports as a standard on the console itself was convenient, but hardly revolutionary.

My favourite console of all time was my Megadrive, easily...

mr-krinkles

How many 4 player megadrive games were available, and how many kids bought the multitap. 4 Ports built into the console WAS revolutionary

Blah, whether or not it was "revolutionary" or not... who cares, right? Truth is, it was simply awesome and its standarization meant that four player split screen gaming was standard. Sure other consoles may have had multitaps (this news that SNES and Genesis had them too is news to me... seriously... who the hell can remember a four player game on either of those consoles) but N64 simply owned that gen's multiplayer.

that's what I'm saying

Nobody gets tired of the M4/AK47 in Counterstrike, because they work. You don't need a million weapons

Counterstrike has been successful because there were balanced weapons, and haven't changed them in years,

There is no problem, except the newer generation not acknowleding the N64 as a good console, because they heard it didn't sell as well as the Ps1. N64 was amazing

I suppose if the N64 was your first console ever, I can understand why you'd think that it was the best one ever.

You'd still be wrong, of course, but at least I can understand your bias.
