[QUOTE="everquestlove"][QUOTE="Vaasman"]Well it's nice you only picked 3 of the listed franchises, but lets assume the rest don't exist for your sake. If you were honestly to look back on those games now, would you actually pick the first games over the most recent? I doubt it. Just because they aren't reinventing the wheel doesn't mean they aren't highly polished and refined versions of their predecessors. I can still love all of these games and I can safely assume I would talk about them years from now.

By your logic, doom came before halo 1, therefore halo 1sucks now.

Vaasman

I would actually prefer to play Halo 1 over Halo 3.

Why? It isn't a legitimate response to just reiterate a point I already knew. but I'll humor you. What exactly about the first hasn't already been done better in the second or 3rd halo, or various other games for that matter?

The pistol, and the simplicity of the game. Not that it was easier, its just the more weapons you add to a franchise, the more confusing and useless other weapons become. Halo 1 was perfect

The Z-Button and C Buttons were great for shooters and platformers. And the analog stick had a comfortable texture to it, so you wouldn't slip. The dualshock analogs are too rubbery

[QUOTE="everquestlove"][QUOTE="Vaasman"]Pff yea why would anyone talk about games like MGS4, Gears, Halo 3, Mario Galaxy, Forza, Ninja Gaiden, Call of Duty, or Bioshock, those games all suck.....

Vaasman

Compared to MGS1, and Halo 1, yeah they do. And Bioshock came from System Shock

[QUOTE="110million"][QUOTE="everquestlove"]Quality > Quanitity Mario 64 was the equivlant of 100 ps1 games, that's how good it was. Same with Goldeneye

I'm sure if you mean 100 like shovelware games, but if you compare the best PS1 games to the best N64 games, N64 might have the edge, but eventually quantity does matter, and the PS1 had a ton of great games, with some epic ones, the N64 might have had more epic ones, but it would only take a little while to finish all of them and to be left without much then to go back and play them again, while the PS1 had a ton of great games to fall back on for years and years afterwards.

N64 still had quantity Too many too count

I agree, although the SNES isn't too far from it if not better. Those were the days when nintendo owned. Last gen, it was the PC, this gen has to go to PS3.tirralirra
really? I think all 3 failed this gen

[QUOTE="everquestlove"]I meant, it was barely playable without the analog stick And the only game, that I can see being talked about in 10 years, is Halo. That's the only game not from my generation, that has really stuck out, and I did like Halo 1, but not Halo 2 and 3Vaasman

Half life 1 > Golden eye imo.
