New and innovative game systems are striving to adopt common bases, such as android and linux, so that devs are able to focus more on the game and less on adapting it to fit a set of software requirements. If these other systems catch on, then the exact opposite of what you described will happen. The hardware wars will finally end, replaced by service wars and game wars. In any case, the gamer wins.

Gamespot should implement a democratic comment model similar to Reddit in which clearly shitty comments are bumped to the bottom, while relevant ones stay near the top.
