I know, I know, not blogged in a long time, it's been ages since my last submission. It just seems that other stuff (life) is more important at the moment ;)
I have been watching 'old' tv series and movies as well as some more recent ones.
RoswellI liked watching the occasional episode on tv, but somehow never managed to watch the entire thing. Turns out all the occasional episodes were from season1, don't think I'd ever seen a season 2 or 3 episode LOL but I have now watched all seasons and really liked the show. Was fun seeing some familiar faces that are familiar from later shows. Emilie de Ravin (Lost) and Gretchen Egolf (Journeyman) to name but two :D
Threshold A short-lived sc-fi series that reminded me of season one of The 4400. Not brilliant but entertaining nevertheless and without a full season (it was cancelled after 13 episodes) it didn't even get proper closure or the chance to develop. A missed chance, as I quite liked the show.
Drake and JoshDon't even know why I started to watch this. Have seen season 1 so far, but am awaiting more seasons. For some reason I like these American teen comedies, even though I'm definitely not part of the target audience ;) (no ageist comments please :P )
Charmed I finally watched the last season, meaning I've now watched the entire series. While season 8 wasn't the best season and the absence of Leo was very annoying, at least it had a proper ending, no matter how improbable :D
As for current shows that manage to show new episodes despite the writer's strike, I'm still watching Primeval(like season 2 so far, even though the Claudia storyline annoys me),Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach (MW is defintely the better of the two shows,EB is only fun to watch due to the MW references) (none of these are affected by the strike asthey're UK shows). In US shows, I just watched the latest episode of Supernaturaland Flash Gordon, which clearly is working toward a grand finale.
Well, I'm sure everyone's glad to be completely up-to-date with my tv viewing habits :D
As for movies, I've watched some odd ones recently. For instance:
The Women, a 1939 black-and-white movie starring only women. Not a single man in the movie! It features one of my favoutire movie quotes ever:
There is a name for you, ladies, but it isn't used in high society... outside of a kennel.
All About Eve, 1950, another oldie. Bette Davis is brilliant and many reviewers say she was robbed of an Oscar. I thought Anne Baxter was very good too, though others disagree.
Bridge to Terabithia, 2007, so a bit more recent LOL. It was advertised a some sort of Narnia but turned out to be a real tearjerker (not literally in my case ;) ) but enjoyable nonetheless.
Nanny Diaries, 2007 rom-com with Scarlett Johansson. Not bad. Liked the Mary Poppins references
10 Things I Hate About You, 1999 in memory of Heath Leadger. Another teen romantic comedy.
The Comebacks, 2007, think Epic Movie but with sports metaphors.
The Deaths of Ian Stone, 2008, no link cause movietome doesn't have it !! A nice horror movie with quite an original script starring Mike Vogel.
Well, that's a bit of a long blog ;) all linked and all :D
