And what about reinstating the 'install other OS' you corporate *******.

Silverbond

And what purpose did using other OS serve?

Dude, do you work for sony or something? Like for real? Why on earth would I have a problem with a feature being taken out that I have paid for initially, when I have no power about getting it back unless I forfit the update?

I do like the fact is that my 60Gb plays PS2 games. Its nice to know that I dont have to cart a PS2 around when I'm moving to and from uni.

[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]

PS2 hardware emulation shouldn't cost 100 dollars more when a ps2 is 100 dollars. I had a full BC launch 60 gig, but never touched any of my ps2 games shortly after launch 'cause I was busy playing ps3 games.

Ageed, if you want to play PS2 games then buy a god damn PS2.

Dude, calm down. So you think it's stupid to have 3 consoles all with the "playstation" brand name all out of the box? That's a bit like saying the PS3 shouldn't play DVDs or CDs and if you want to play those forms of media then "BUY A GOD DAMN CD OR DVD PLAYER!"

You know what would've been a perfect move when the Slim was announced this time last year? 2 versions of the slim: Version 1: PS1/PS2 BC playback with full HARDWARE emulation, 4 USB ports, touch-sensitive buttons, flash card readers etc...basically the same as the launch 60gb NTSC model. Version 2: PS3 only...want just a standalone PS3? Fine, with the targeted audience being mostly people who don't care for old skool games, cheaper upgrade and to use it as a blu-ray player. The difference? $100-$150 more for the more hardcore of the Playstation experience. Then everyone would've been happy and maybe some will not agree but I would gladly pay an extra $100 for an all-in-one Playstation game/media device as what had us drooling at E3 05/06. Just my view, thoughts?

Some awesome replies people, I don't know what some users are doing defending Sony/MS for the removal of it. Unless you work for the company/have shares etc...how on earth does turning a console that has been 3 consoles in one (PS3) and then removing that feature yet allowing you still to play PS1 games, be really beneficial for someone who wants a complete Playstation gaming experience?...that's incredible hence why some users are considering or already have sold their PS3s and the removal of PS2 BC was a factor. Costs down? LOL. There's nothing wrong with that. Sony should've released two versions of the slim...one with the same specs as the launch PS3 with the card readers, extra USB ports, full BC etc...and one that is a blu-ray player/PS3. One for the more hardcore, old skool gamer and one for someone who wants a PS3 with blu-ray functionality...problem solved. I for one would've been more than happy to pay an extra $100 for PS2 bc and the other features. We, the gamers have been screwed because of this "cost effective" crap. Anyone who disagress with that is obviously not fond of having a standard feature that was promised by Sony back when the PS3 was originally announced and delusional.

Whilst I despise people who buy a system for a single game and will play that game for 2 years straight til the sequel comes out (Halo, COD MW etc)...I hate even more people who consider themselves hardcore gamers that hate on big, popular franchises simply because...they're popular. I have owned every system this gen, including various limited editions (I have 3 different 360s) etc as I did last gen and have a collection of over 500 games...yet I play quite a bit of COD and at first glance might be seen as a possible 'casual'. That is nonsense and it's myths/bull like that, that need to stop.

[QUOTE="eyebrows"]Yes everyone can see how it works within a good business model...but how does keeping costs down mean more to the gamer? They have removed so many good features from the PS3 it's a joke...good for Sony, bad for the consumer and unless you're a shareholder/working for the company, that ain't good.SakusEnvoy

It's good for the consumer too. We get cheaper PS3s because production costs go down, the PS3 gets a larger install base, third parties release better games on PS3. And so forth.

Good point. I guess I'm just the kind of guy who wants the most features for his buck.

ps3 slim = to reduce the manufacturing cost, and new xbox 360 = a beautiful make over.Leo-Magic
