when you begin to notice lag just go do a speedtest to see if your transfer rates are coming down to an unreasonable level. If you notice that your transfers are stable then you know that it is probably something else. If not, then talk to your ISP

www.speedtest.net

www.speakeasy.net

are a couple of good sites to check transfer rates

I had a similar problem--liked the feel of the wired headset but shared the same issues with reliability. I bought the wireless one but found it brutally uncomfortable. What I did (although I wouldn't necessarily recommend this) is basically mated the two headsets to make some kind of hybrid super-headset.

I took off the boom from the broken wired one and glued the wireless one to the base of the headband (after ripping off the terrible ear-mangling black rubber thing). This took a whole bunch of glue-gun glue but after it dried it worked really well. It helps too if you use the foam padding from the wired one to make it extra comfy.

Not sure if this is the solution for you but it worked pretty well for me

1. Start with one character that you like and stick with him/her until you can perform most of their moves with ease. 2. Know that good fundamentals (i.e. when to sweep, when to throw, when to block ect.) are extremely important and require lots of experience to master. A skilled SF player could easily beat a novice without using a single special attack. 3. Practice in trial mode. Though the more advanced combos require some pretty decent dexterity, they are in no way impossible and will come with practice. 4. Understand that if you get absolutely annihilated online you are probably playing a SF veteran that has had years to master the maneuvers that you have been practicing for a week or so. 5. Muscle memory: once you get a shoryuken or some other move you want to learn, practice it over and over and over until you can do it without even thinking. All special moves/combos ect. should be approached the same way. Like all things worth learning, they require dedication, practice and perseverance. Tiger Woods wasn't born an amazing golfer, he practiced for hours and hours, years and years to get where he is today.

best thing that I would recommend is getting an arcade and using the HDD from the old one. Fixing it isn't really an option unless you are some computer wizard or something. Only problem with getting an arcade is that it cost 200 bones.

Okay, so if you don't like the content offered by Microsoft don't buy it. As others have pointed out a HDD is used for lots of other applications on Live--not just selling you stuff. While I do agree that there is a growing trend toward over-commercialization on Live, the fact remains that you have ultimate control over what you do or do not purchase. It's that simple.

**Also to all of you HDD price complainers--The MS drive is SOLID STATE. They are a lot more expensive than regular drives due to their heighted durability (no moving parts) and performance. If you could pit the MS drive against an HDD in, say, a laptop or the PS3 you would see that they are very much superior and thus more expensive.

When Gears runs well (which is about half the time in my opinion) it is quite fun. Shoot people, they die. The problem starts with the invincible host/unplayable lag issues. Other games lag as well but one can usually make due while getting a few kills. In Gears, though, your shots simply don't count...and then you get one-shotted from twenty feet. Under optimal conditions, Gears is definitely a solid game but if you can only get that optimal performance around half the time, it just gets old really quickly.

My hands down favorite of all time is "Cookies and Milf"

My friends and I laughed a lot about that one.

I'll go out on a limb here a little and say Halo 1. While not next gen per se, it has an absolutely epic campaign. Split screen on the legendary difficulty setting is awesome.

The problem I have with the game is really more of an aesthetic one. Let's face it; this game looks really dated. It is time to let the source engine die. The fact that zombies turn into greyish dust when you shoot them is very disappointing. I'm not one of those people who need every game to look like Gears of War or whatever but the fact of teh matter is that this is supposed to be next generation. I don't own the game but I have played it a little through the demo with some friends. After killing about 10 zombies I knew this game was dated. Terrible lighting, a bad shooting mechanic, and infected that basically just turn to dust when shot is last generation. I want to see body parts being blown off when I shoot them. Look at Dead Space or Gears of War--clearly this is within the power of the 360. Step it up Valve. The source engine must die.
