@tsunami2311: True in most cases but i got a feeling that the newer consoles have the ability to stop a disk from being recognized with an update if a maker needs to do so.
For example Konami decides that its revoking all licenses to play MGS5, Steam/MS/SONY can be compelled through legal process to delist MGS5, remove all copies of the game from users accounts and push updates to consoles to stop discs from being recognized.
Now this has not ever happened that im aware off and it would be a huge waste of time/money to stop physical copies from working but im 95% certain video game IP holders can do it if they really wanted too and it would be legal for them to do so in the U.S. at least.
Wait so they paid Take2 just to put Har-de-Har-who on the platform? So Take2 and others had no interest of even putting their games on the platform at all?
@keiser69: New to the franchise is not a new idea. My critique is based on a part of the title of this article "Embracing Brand-New Ideas" and nothing thats been shown is brand new. You are correct that not everything has been shown so something "brand-new" is still possible but im not gonna hold my breath on that. Reason being brand new ideas in video games are hard to come by and even harder to make acceptably profitable.
