i have the slim and it DOES make noises depending on which game i play. for instance, before i installed Bad company 2 to my hard drive, my console produces a really loud noise, but after i installed it to my HD, the noise stops.

Thanks for that - does that mean downloadable content I have on my old drive is just lost?

no, you need to transfer them using the microsoft brand transfer cable. it'll only work assuming you have less than 4gb of data in your 20gb hd

for the 360? Bad company 2 for sure.
