[QUOTE="Wii1080p"]But there are onboard sound that does support 7.1 and even EAX. Its a matter of finding a mobo with an onboard video and sound that can work those two. Like I said, you don't need fancy PCI cards for these features.[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Wii1080p"]I'm also not sure whether this rig would be able to smoothly process Dolby TrueHD or even LPCM 5.1-7.1...Vandalvideo
What kind of 7.1?
Just simple Dolby Digital or DTS,
Or Lossless audio (AKA High Definition Audio), such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master, or LPCM 5.1-7.1?
Decoding and playing lossless audio takes up quite a bit of processing power.
And CPUs are cheap. You don't need a dual core processor. Heck, even a 2.4GHZ processor single core could do the job if you dedicate resources. They only run about what, 85 dollars now? You don't need an extravagant machine with PCI cards and dual core processor with 2 gigs of ram to just run HIGH DEFINITION video and audio. My Pentium 4 2.53 GHz machine can't even handle HD with 1 GB of RAM. (My video card is GeForce 6600). That's why I rely my X360 to render HD movies, I have to change its format and stream it to my X360. gnutuxYou can simply get the M2A-VM mobo, it has HDMI built-in and it's HDCP compliant. gnutuxAh, then the system is useless...
since the integrated video card is not HDCP compliant. Blu-Ray movies would be de-rezzed down to 480p quality.
You need a video card that is HDCP compliant in order to watch Blu-Ray movies in 1080p.

I have a Mac. It's great, but clearly not meant for gaming. The fact that I would have to use Windows for PC gaming deters me completely.SolidSnake35That will change in July. gnutux
[QUOTE="MCGSMB"][QUOTE="jdmb13"]gears? its looks good, but nowhere def jam icon. thats saying alot. unreal will look 10x better than gears and its coming to all three.
shallow? i would say play gears of war...offline. viva pinata was better offline than gears. look what ea did fight night3 with a couple extra months!
psn is also completely free. xbox live is better but its 60 bucks EVERY year.
still waitin for my 6th 360...

Gamertag or you're a liar.
Isn't it obvious that he's a liar? I thought the $60 a year for XBL gave that away, considering its really$50 for 13 months.
unless he's referring to CAD$60. It is CAD$60 ;) gnutux[QUOTE="gnutux"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="gnutux"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"]Yes, and does that change anything? gnutux[QUOTE="gnutux"][QUOTE="potato66"]doesent the ps3 use xdr ram?Dr_DudeMan
LOL! I cant believe you post that and claim ownage on us...hahaha...
When did I EVER in any post I have made on GS wanted pwnage of anyone? Give me that link first. The closest thing to pwnage was just backing others' pwnage posts, I have not personally claimed any. The PS3 XDR RAM runs at 800MHz the last time I checked and the X360 GDDR3 runs at 700MHz, last check. However, the X360 can utilize 512MB for any type of data while the XDR can only be system RAM, (still lockable by the GDDR3) with only 256MB available, thus cannot be partitioned if the system requires more memory. gnutuxIncorrect, althought the 256 are independent they can both function in graphical operations, its just that 256 are dedicated to graphics and the other 256 are not solely dedicated to graphics.
You have 2 different memory modules. Each serving a specific task. The main system memory can store graphical data, which is true. However, what if the system memory needed more memory? 256 MB isn't quite enough for physics, AI and map data for the system memory to handle. gnutuxSome of those operations are then performed by the other 256.
Give me a link that the system can access the 256 MB GDDR3 memory for other operations except OS and graphics. I would love to see it, because all I've read was that the GDDR3 was graphics/OS exclusive. gnutux
