I have played in a few BETA test, this year with the launch of games that will be both on PC and on the new consoles, I was hoping to get a feel for what to expect from this next generation.

It seems, more of the same. While I am fully aware that we wont see these early titles push consoles to their limits for some time... if ever. I am a little disapointed in the PC offerings.

BF4 in particular doesnt really seem to offer anything new. Levelution is not really a feature. I mean they had distructible objects anyway.. so the landscape was always changing. Now it just changes a bit more.

I was hoping that with the dawn of this new gaming era, game makers might start pushing PC a little harder... sorry for those with older rigs (Mine is not that new) but push the min requirements and show real value for having done so? I am just not seeing it.

Now, I know BETA is BETA, but it looks like I am goign to need a lot more convincing to buy the hype.

What are your thoughts?

Why do you want all-in-ones?

They are worse than a modem and a router, also if it dies or you get cable in the future, you don't have to throw out a expensive all-in-one, just 1 cheaper device.

thanks, thats true.. it seems easy to find high quality routers.. but not many recommendations for modems?

Doesn't your ISP give you a modem with your plan or anything?

it stopped working :( my ISP said they could replace it.. but it was already struggling with our connections.

If I go the route of an expensive Router, can anyone recommend a great modem to go with it. ADSL not cable.

Any recommendations for all in ones?

Thanks

Do not buy D-Link cheap garbage.  That is my only advice at this time.

What's wrong with D-Link? I have a 15$ TP-Link wireless router which is probably lower on the scale than D-Link, and it works just fine. I've used D-Link network adapters in the past and never had any issues with them. IMO, routers are mostly the same. They tout this and that feature to add 100$ to the price tag. For all practical purposes, unless you know you need a specific service which sounds like that's the not case, any old router/modem will do just fine. Well, assuming that the modem is compatible with your ISP service.

thanks, thats what i thought.. what I am looking for is some suggestions on individual device or combined and hopefully the new ac standard.

It depends on how much are you willing to spend

I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/RT-AC66U-AC1750-Diamond-Dual-Band-Gigabit/dp/B008O56HXC at home, I recently upgraded my PC wireless card to an AC card and it's been great for me. I live with my family that is a two storied house and have 2 Desktops, 2 laptops, one tablet and the rest are phones. It's also backwards compatable to all N, G, B, and A devices and the 5ghz range has been increased. I have a great connection all around my house and it eliminates all dead zones without having to buy a range extender. However, you can get the N version of the router for a cheaper price.

Thanks! Is that a modem too? or will I have to buy that?

Looking to buy a new modem/router.

Its for the 'family' - 2 PCs, 2 Laptops and 2 iPads.

Lots of range and the latest wireless would be great.

On the side.. I wouldnt mind sneaking in any game specific features.. prioritising traffic etc..

In the UK, standard phone connection, broadband 10MBP download.

Any recommendations? Reviews?

Thanks

Thanks.. yes the full block would be ideal.. but there just arnt many around for the gtx590.

I guess I would need to get some mini heatsyncs for the ream.. I have seen little silver ones.

By big enough.. I guess you mean to vover the full chip?

Also, the gtx590 has one screw hole out of alignment on each gpu.. bit of a pain.

I am starting to plan for a custom loop GPU water cooling solution.

I have a gtx 590 and I was looking at picking up 2 cooling plates. Could I use these:

http://koolance.com/gpu-200-video-card-vga-chipset-water-block

or

http://koolance.com/gpu-220-video-card-vga-chipset-water-block

Any reason why these wouldnt work with my 590? I would just get 2 of the one kind.

Also, I am building up a shopping list of parts.. but could anyone recomend a good entry level rad, pump/res combo?

Thanks

OK, so it quits to the desktop.. the game is still there, but is now in a small window.. double clicking just makes it full screen.. but still windowed.

It does this at the start of the game.. F1 2012

In GPU-Z at idle

GPU1 - 71

GPU2 - 50

Fan:47%

Mem Clock is 801.5

it doesnt get much higher before the game goes to desktop and windowd mode.

but in game

In GPU-Z - F1

GPU1 - 81

GPU2 - 78

CPU looks fine, starts around 30 and doesnt get higher than high 50s
