I'm running a Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (ver 1.0). I installed a new HD as a second drive. Now when I try to boot I get "BOOT DISK ERROR". When I go into CMOS it sees only one of my two optical drives on IDE Channel 4 MASTER (about every other start up it show neither).

Primary drive with OS is plugged into SATA0.

I know my BIOS settings are probably off, but I am pretty clueless on those settings. Here is what I have in Advanced Settings:

HARD DISK BOOT PRIORITY nothing set, only option is Bootable Add-In Cards
First Boot Device [Hard Disk] no detail
Second Boot Device [Hard Disk] no detail
Third Boot Device [Hard Disk] no detail
Password Check [set up]
HDD SMART Capability [Disabled]
Limit CPUID to 3 [Disabled]
No-Execute Memory Priority [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) [Enabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) [Enabled]
Virtualization Technology [Enabled]
Init Display First [PCI]

Integrated Peripherals Settings:

SATA AHCI Mode [Disabled]
SATA Port 0-1 Native Mode [Diabled]
USB Controller [Enabled]
USB 2.0 Controller [Enabled]
USB Keyboard Support [Disabled]
USB Mouse Support [Disabled]
Legacy USB Storage Detect [Enabled]
Azilia Codec [Enabled]
SMART LAN [Press Enter]
Onboard LAN Boot ROM [Disabled]
Onboard SATA/IDE Device [Enabled]
Onboard SATA/IDE Device Ctrl Mode [IDE]
Onboard Serial Port 1 [3F8/IRQ4]
Onboard Parallel Port [378/IRQ7]
Parallel Port Mode [SPP]

These are the fail-Safe Settings. I got the same problems after reset.

Suggestions?

I'm running GeForce 260 OC
Q6600 processor (no overclock)
3 G RAM
2 DVD-RW/R
2 SATA Drives
Multiple LED Fans
2-3 USB Devices that suck power (tablet, 2 USB Drives)

I want a little roam to grow, but I'm not planning on radical changes (no SLI).

Will a 550W do me?

I have an XP laptop that connects wirelessly to my home network. I have a desktop that houses all of my files. I have some drives and folders set up as shared. The laptop has had no problem seeing these shared items in the past. Last night after a restart the laptop does not see any of the shared folders or drives. All the drives and folders are still marked as shared, and the laptop still has a good connection to the router. I'm stuck on what to do. I've rebooted both computers several times.

I have a component cable for my PS2. I am connecting to a monitor, so I need to use seperate speakers for sound. There is not nearly enough cable to make it to the speakers. Do they make audio "extension" cables (red/white ones) so I can reach my speakers?

Wow, it looks like you've stumbled onto quite the problem. Looking through many Google results it seems that this is an ongoing issue with that particular Dell monitor across various operating systems. It also looks like the common factor is almost always the presence of NVIDIA graphics drivers.

It seems like it is unresolved, and has been going on for a while. Although one guy said he was able to get the Dell working at its native resolution when hooked up via VGA instead of DVI. Another said he had to use older drivers. Both of them were using older NVIDIA GPUs, though.

When I tried to Google I got nothing. Props!

Thanks for the help. I only need dual monitors when I do work stuff, and I can live with the lower res.

This is an ongoing problem. I'm running two monitors:

LG Flatron L1720P (standard) 1280x1024 standard res.
Dell 2405FPW (widescreen) 1920 x 1200 standard res.

Both of these worked fine on their standard resolutions with my old 8800. I installed a new CPU and video card. I reinstalled windows (XP) at the same time.

Now when I try to run the two monitors the Dell resets itself to 1680x1050. The LG stays at correct resolution. I can set the Dell to it's correct resolution when it is the only monitor, but if I turn the LP back on, Dell resets. I have tried reinstalling the driver. I have even tried setting the resolution for the Dell through the Nvidia control panel.

its probably a bad monitor that does not display 1680 by 1050 correctly.

stormfuzz

It does, but the native is 1920x1200. It works fine with the other monitor off.

Dual monitors do act funny sometimes. Just disable one and re enable it. Fixes most issuesRemotay
When I disable I can go to the correct res. When I re-enbale the resolution resets itself.

I thought I had this fixed, but everytime I try to use both monitors my resolution changes on my widescreen Dell.

Check your GPU temps while playing.
