@sirvick: The biggest improvement with the remaster are the controls, there is one mechanic in particular called gravity sliding that is tough to control on the Vita, you essentially need to tilt your Vita to turn. I'd say give it a shot on the Vita though, you should get to test out the controls fairly early on.

Other than that the remaster also has all the dlc, which adds some extra missions, challenges and costumes. It also looks a little better on the big screen in my opinion, after playing both versions I'd say I prefer the remaster but the Vita version is pretty good too. It mostly comes down to preference between big screen and handheld.

@Gelugon_baat: Right, there is one earlier in the game as well. They were such a small part of the game that I forgot about them. So yeah there are a few of them.

I still disagree about your initial comment saying it is poorly designed, and I haven't seen any criticism towards GR 1 regarding those missions either.

Here's a very interesting read about the rift during development between MS and Platinum

https://www.vg247.com/2017/01/10/scalebounds-troubles-were-visible-in-its-two-sided-previews/

Essentially MS wanted more of an action game and Platinum wanted a full scale RPG that had more depth to it. I guess Platinum's vision for the game was too ambitious for Microsoft's taste, hopefully we see this game on another platform because it's a waste otherwise. Also pointed out in the article is how pissed Kamiya was about the way the game was marketed and shown off at events, and reading the number of people saying the game didn't look too great, I can understand why.

@Gelugon_baat: I didn't know there were any tailing missions in GR2, and what tailing has to do with your initial comment about 3d stealth with poor detection mechanics is a little confusing, as well as saying the original was criticized for it when it was such a minuscule part of the game.

As far as me shifting the goalpost, why do you think I initially said the mission was part of a dlc? I said it because it was optional, but apparently I didn't make myself clear about it, so that's my fault I guess.

Also since you edited your comment, the tailing mission "irked" players? It prevented them from building on the strengths of the first game? Did you read the review? Just hyperbolic nonsense at this point.

@Gelugon_baat: If you want to view it that way fine, but what's being described in the reviews sound different, and saying the previous game did the same and was criticized for it is incorrect.

Also the reason I brought it up being in a dlc is because it was completely optional.

@Gelugon_baat: There wasn't any stealth missions in the first game, the only thing remotely close was a mission where you tailed someone, and that was part of a DLC if I recall correctly.

After playing the remaster I knew this series could be something special, and this game looks to be bigger and better in every way. It just looks so incredibly polished and fluid in motion, and brings a sense of wonderment that I haven't experienced since I was a kid. Hopefully all the positive reviews can bring the series the attention it deserves.

What a shame, I was really looking forward to this. Hopefully the project will live on in some other way, as Kamiya has yet to disappoint. Can't see how cancelling this game makes any sense for Microsoft, they seriously need to diversify their lineup.

Might be the busiest month of the year for me, 9 games coming out that I'm interested in. Gravity Rush 2, Tales of Berseria, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Dragon Quest VIII will be day one buys, the others I'll try to pick up at more opportune times.

Also looking at the comments below, it's great to see some fellow Tales of fans. Tales of Berseria is looking to be the best since Vesperia, really looking forward to it.
