Played the demo, looks great, runs like a dream on my 8800 gts 320 at 1280 * 1024 everything MAX/ON in DX9, gonna try DX10 soon.

Yet do see the FPS drop below 40, and this is before the new drivers optimised for bioshock come out.

what driver version are you using??

Im using the 163.16 Beta Drivers which i got from Guru3D site download section.

do you think my performance will be worse because im using 158.22 ? I tried 162.18 and i had to repair windows because these drivers cause a bsod :S. Lets just hope my computer wont react the same way with every new driver :|

By the way, will the demo be avaible on every download site (i.e : filefront) at 7 pm tonight when the demo is unlocked??

Ok guys I must say this game runs fantastic.. Using a 8800 GTS 320mb, 2gb 667mhz ddr2 ram, and Core 2 Duo E4300 all at stock, there was never a hick up.. Everything was on high resolutions I tried out on were 1240 X 1024 and 1600 X 1200, both ran fantastic.. And on top of that Nvidia is suppose to release a performance boosting driver later today supposedly that will not only increase FPS but add AA and AF as possibilities..

Let me also say the people say the game is littered with jaggies are on crack.. Even with out AA on the game looks wonderful, where there are only a handful of areas I remember seeing almost unnoticable jaggies.. This is with the lower res I posted and no AA and AF.. It honestly seems like alot of these people must use a magnifying glass to find these blemishs. The sound is also top notch using Creative labs EAX on.

No you cant buy the steam version of the game on a computer that does not have steam installed. So what you would want to do is : download steam on the computer you want to buy the game from, buy the game, uninstall steam on the computer you bought the game from, log onto your account on the computer you want to PLAY the game on and download the game from steam.

I have Vista 64x Home Premium booted up - customized - and optimized all for Bioshock and games after it. I already pre-loaded Bioshock from STEAM, and it's already INSTALLED on my computer!

All I have to do is wait for August 21 @ 12 AM and I press "PLAY". Then, maybe I'll be the first to play Bioshock with DX10 graphics maxed out with an average FPS of about 70-100.

what are you going to do if it doesnt work? How can you be sure it will work perfectly and with an average of 70-100 fps?

i dont get why you bought ALL those games at the same timeYou could have bought one, test how it works or if you can download/run/play it, instead of buying all without testing.....

i would buy it off steam too, but.... having a physical copy of the game is always good. Getting your steam account hacked and stolen is possible and if you have a lot of "downloaded from steam" games, it can be pretty painful.

The best scenario would be to buy the retail gamed, register it on steam, and then be able to play without the cd. That would be perfect : physical copy for extra security, all the goodies that come with the box, no need for cd and auto-updating.

do you need the cd to play it if you buy a retailed box? this could bea major factor in my decision.
