I've got a Vita and so far I'm having a great time with Uncharted, Stardust and Modnation Racers (which may not be PS3-perfect, but it's still a lot of fun- and better than the PSP version, which I also enjoyed). Even Little Deviants (which came free with my console) is a fun little time waster. I think calling Vita "Doomed" may be a bit of stretch. When the library builds up, i can see it becoming an awesome device to have. The only thing I think Sony should consider is dropping the average software price to $20-$30 instead of $30-$40.
I have an iPhone 4S and just picked up a Vita today. I am happy Vita exists. It's nice to be playing an action shooter (uncharted) without having to fiddle with the "close-but-not-quite-there" feel of virtual sticks. If apple were to release an attachment that added two sticks and some buttons to the iPhone, I could see it filling my need for more "serious" handheld gaming, but for now, it's best for idly playing games like Jetpack Joyride while trying to fall asleep. Swords and Sworcery was kind of cool, but started to get a tad tedious after a while (luckily it ends before it really gets stale), but aside from that, I've never specifically put headphones in to play an iphone game. I can't picture playing my Vita without them.
Also games like Shadows of the Damned, Vanquish, Bayonetta and Resistance 3 are all under \$30 right now because nobody bought THOSE and they're all incredible. You could probably get 3 of them for the price of Never Dead.
If games were free and nobody had to work, I'm sure a lot of 6.0 mediocre-to-average games would be worth playing. But think of how much time you would have to spend playing all of the 7.0-10 good-to-amazing games you could play before you even bother with a single 6.5? How much free time and disposable income could one possibly have in order to make that a good idea? We live in a world where Skyrim exists! And it costs the same amount of money as Never Dead (at least for the next week or so)
I grew up with Nintendo. I will always love Mario. Metroid and Zelda definitely evoke fond memories. However, I have not been in support of a nintendo console since the SNES. I owned a gamecube because I wanted to play Resident Evil (which was a weird move on Capcom's part anyway) but I never got into N64 or Wii (and all told, owned about 6 gamecube games, which most of you could probably guess at least 5 of without a single wrong answer). In a perfect world, Nintendo would go third party and show Sega how the transition from 1st to 3rd should be done. They could easily go head to head with EA and Activision if they wanted, and those companies arguably bring in more bank than Sony or Microsoft's gaming divisions, without all of the bottom line costs.
All of these are launch games!?! That's one epic release- Resistance, Uncharted, LBP and Modnation Racers all getting a new game on the same day is unreal.
This article was pretty much on the money until the second last paragraph- I really don't think the second stick is going to be a peripheral that will only be used by a few games. I think it is a big flashing indicator that a redesign is likely to make an appearance sometime in 2012 and more and more developers will release games with a "supports second stick" or "requires second stick" logo on it. It'll encourage better sales of the second 3DS model and the fact that the add on exist means the (ever so misguided) early 3DS adopters won't feel totally shafted.
While all-in-all, Dragon Age Origins is a better game than Dragon Age 2- I think the only thing DA2 was really lacking was a strong main quest. The combat was more fun than DA:O and having a main character with a real personality was a big plus. I think it gets cited as a terrible sequel unfairly. It's more like one of those movie sequels with better action but a weaker plot than its predecessor... I almost thought about citing Terminator 2 (mostly because I'm a huge fan of the original Terminator), but that might enrage some (I get that T2 is awesome) but I think the safest example is Scream 2- crazier kills, more tense moments and higher body count, but it just doesn't have the first film's script.
