i'm liking that build...are you okay with that mobo only having one PCIe slot? also i'd save some money and get the kingston hyperx 1600mhz RAM and save 10-20 bucks, they make great ram

Is this a good set of ramhttp://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=214321687to use with this mobohttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128502? I'm totally new to computer builds lol

Serial-No_3404
damn good choice IMO, i've been spamming every forum with that RAM :P i own it myself and i can personally tell it works great! it doesn't have those annoying heat spreaders, it's encapsulated in that blue plastic material (its very solid and sturdy and looks good) and trust me you don't have to worry about temps the mobo is good too, the Z68 chipset is great, i have an Asus P8Z68-V cuz i like their EFI BIOS and it's user-friendlyness OC'ing features and also the good AI Suite software that comes with it

thank you good sir, i think this is what i'l do.

watching this topic from the sidelines, that's a good build! if you're on a tight budget it's much better to go with AMD processors and Radeon vidcards...also get a mobo that will let you upgrade the CPU and Xfire the vidcards in the future...am3+ would be the way to go...obviously sandy bridge CPUs are great but on a budget it's tough to beat a quadcore AMD processor (don't settle for dual core by the way)

[QUOTE="Tarentaal101"]3.8 watt, is it good or bad?GTR12

Lol you got bad eyes, thats 380 watts, and thats still pathetic.

Out of 10, I give it a 0, because we have a rate my rig sticky at the top, if you need to upgrade, then say so.

yea 380 watts is pretty low but expected considering where you bought the computer...at any rate I would look into a gtx 550 maybe? check tomshardware.com and look for some wattage estimates on video cards...any card that doesn't pull more than 300 watts should be okay

EDIT: actually i think a 560Ti would be a great fit for you, and its a great mid-range card, very solid, i'm more of a Nvidia guy, but maybe a midrange Radeon card would do as well

sorry let me clarify: a dvd burner is an optical drive yes, it burns and read all types of DVDs and CDs this is pretty much the standard these days, and the prices are quite low (around 20 bucks) you need an optical drive in your build so u can install windows 7 and games of course!

dam u had 6970s in Xfire? that was an awesome setup! but i suppose 580's in SLI would be better, as with PhysX....are you looking to get just one 580?

if you want to go ahead, though dont expect huge performance increases, if any at all in most games, since a 6970 crossfired is the same performance wise as 580 sli

blaznwiipspman1

that's true, if PhysX isn't a big deal to you (it isn't to most people), then we're talking maybe a 0-7 frames per sec increase....hell there's a couple games out there that perform slightly better on 6970 than gtx580...so the difference is very small....but i just like Nvidia and support them, i like their software and SLI scaling and PhysX support (i play on single monitor 1080p)

i can tell you right now that yea 2600k (hyperthreading on) is 5C hotter than 2500k...i'm using Corsair H70 cooler and i had the 2500k for a week before i sent it back and went with 2600k cuz the hyperthreading is nice for my video encoding I haven't tried turning off HT and looking at the temps but for gaming...its a no brainer...u can go to tomshardware.com or any other site and they'll tell you the same thing: 2500k...it's basically a 2600k without HyperThreading not to mention 2500k will overclock to 4.3ghz EASILY without any voltage tweaks (depending on your motherboard, i have Asus p8z68-v)
