Nathan Thompson has almost single-handedly pulled the Kangaroos out of a four game losing streak and given them a second win for 2006, with eight goals yesterday under lights at Telstra Dome. A poor start to the match was quickly eradicated in the second quarter with goals from Thompson and Wells giving the Roos the lead for a brief period. The Third quarter was a see-sawing affair with the Roos in front by 5 points at the final change. Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell continued to gain possessions and at the end of the day finished with 34. However it was not enough to stop the Roos and Thompson who ran out 22 point winners.
