[QUOTE="eo12601"][QUOTE="louislegros"]IT is a fact that the earth is getting warmer, why does anyone get upset with you don't agree on the exact role that humans play in this process?louislegrosbecause, there is a direct correlation between the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, and earth's temperature. As we put more CO2 into the atmosphere, more heat is retained in the earth. People get upset because humans are causing it we are having a pointless debate about something that any credible scientist will tell you is happening, when we should be past that stage and actually start doing something about it before its too late. and why should natural temperature variation of the earth just simply be thrown out of the window? It has been observed that the earth goes through times of heating and cooling. IS it possible that it isn't just CO2 that is causing all the heating? Anyways we have been pumping CO2 into hte atmosphere since the industrial revolution. This is like 250 years of doing so. You can't really undo that even if is the sole cause of global warming. Natural temperature variation should be considered. When you take a look at what has been happening you see that the Earth goes through cycles of temperature variation, then you see what is happening now. You see a spike in the temperature that directly correlates to the amount of Co2 that has been pumped into the air. We can't undo the damage that has alread been done, but we can mitigate what is going to happen in the future.

first of all us humans have been around for however many years, and how long has this planet been around for??? who is to say that we aren't just getting farther and farther out of our last ice age, plus if it was our cars producing global warming we would have seen it sooner, we used to use lead fuels and we didn't see this, now with more eco-friendly fuels we all of the sudden say we are doing this. I think one of the biggest signs is if we stop pumping fossil fuels into the atmosphere this second we would see no change at all, but if our fuels are causing it how could not using them, not make a difference? mark4091Us humans can cause temendous changes to the world that we live in. We can destroy the planet hundreds of times over with our nuclear weapons. We burnt a hole in our ozone layer. Why is global warming so hard to believe? Almost every scientist believes that it is occurring. Also, it's not just our cars pumping co2 into the atmospehe, it's industrialization.
[QUOTE="yermomsboxx"][QUOTE="MrGeezer"]Hentai is legal even when it depicts sexual acts with children, right?MrGeezerI guess there are two sides to that arguement. One would say that it is a victimless crime, while the other would say it encourages that type of behavior. It is illegal now, though.
See, that's what's scary about that. If we can ban cartoon child porn because "it encourages that type of behaviour", then don't we then have a dangerous precedent being set? Now any time someone makes a violent videogame or a violent movie or a violent book, we can ban it because it encourages murder. Or robbery.
Has the Supreme Court ever weighed in on the constitutionality of criminalizing cartoon child porn? Bwecause if they have weighed in on that issue and determined that cartoon child porn bans are NOT unconstitutional, then I'd be extremely interested in seeing the reasons given for their decision.
I agree with you. It's a slippery slope. If child porn images are illegal, what about child porn erotic stories, etc. . . I think that computer animated/anime images depicting child porn should be allowed. It is not harming anyone. However, once a pedophile goes beyond the images and molests a kid, they should throw the book at him.

It was legal until about 2002. Then president bush signed into law the Protect Act of 2003.
I bet I could kick the crap out of Bin Laden, 1 on 1. He's a frail old man. Also do you think Osama Bin Laden himself has had any type of battle training.

[QUOTE="quiglythegreat"][QUOTE="Fortier"]Why does everyone think they're a scientist when discussing their opinion on the matter? We can find out the temperature from tens of thousands of years ok. I mean, you don't study weather, you don't study anything, but then you say that it's probably just a cycle based on absolutely nothing.[QUOTE="quiglythegreat"][QUOTE="Fortier"]I'm not sold on global warming whatsoever because this is likely just a cycle the planet goes through. We've been keeping records of our temperatures for what? Maybe a couple hundred years? Earth's been around for millions of years, so it probably is just a cycle we go through.Fortier
I definitely do not think I'm a scientist, I'm merely voicing my opinion on the matter. And thanks to whoever it was that pointed out Earth is 4.5 billion years old, and we've been recording for 150 years, cause that just helps my stance. And I'd like to know how we can find the temperature from thousands of years ago. I'm not doubting its possible; I'm just doubting we've done so.
Ice cores and tree rings.Alright, so what have our temperatures been like for the past ten thousand years? You've really sparked my curiosity.
We've recorded actual temperatures for a little over 100 years. However, in Antartica, air has been trapped as bubbles in the ice. By extracting these cores, scientists can measure the amount of CO2 that was present in the past, thousands of years in the past.Anyone who says that global warming is not occurring, where is your source? On any big topic you can find some scientist that disagrees, but the new UN report review all of the literature on global warming. It was reviewed by over 40 countries and 600 scientists. They all say that global warming is occurring.
