I could be wrong, but it doesnt appear you're qualified.
Oh he's qualified (depending on which pharmacy environment he is going after)
I am one. Been doing it while I was in college (originally wanted to be a pharmacist) and continued doing itwhile I wait to receive my final training as an air traffic controller (I accepteda job at Minneapolis Center but I have to pass a new color blind test first).
Anyways, where have you been looking for jobs? Hospital jobs are usually very hard to get and usually require a lot more experience or training(some schools have some sort of degree and helps you get certified). A lot of Walgreens need help, at least here in MN, and are usually pretty easy to get. You do not need any degree or anything but they some skills they would like (but never asked as far as I know) are basic algebra (to calculate dosages occasionally), multi-tasking, time management, good communication skills, and detail-oriented. If you get a job there, they usually require you to become certified (think you can look this is up at www.ptcb.org) within 1 year which means you have to go to a few meetings (that they pay you for) and pass a test consisting mostly of dosage calculations, naming brand/generic, and some other stuff they teach you all about- it is super easy. Walgreens pays for all aspects of getting certified (except driving etc) and maintaining your license and certification.
On a side note, I don't really recommend the job. If you're working retail and depending on the store/chain; they pay horribly, can be high stress, and have to deal with a-hole customers (especially welfare trash).
This is also a job you can't slack off or call in sick-there can be about 4 to 5 work stations that need constant full attention at and there are only about 3 technicians to complete the jobs. One night I was working and I was entering new prescriptions people dropped off in the store, there were non-stop people at the register, and 2 lanes of cars in the drive-through- we only had 3 technicians and the pharmacist couldn't budge from checking new rxs. Needless to say NO ONE was actually filling the prescriptions when they printed out so you can guess how that night went. A pharmacist made a funny comment once, why does McDonalds have a whole army of people making food while pharmacies are so intentionally short on help.
Again this is very relative to the store and location you are at. Last week I helped out an old friend at another pharmacy (which was about 1 year old) and probably didn't do more than 1 hour of actual work for the7 hours I was there.
^ thank you for typing that up, i read all of it. Right now im trying to get a job at some of the less crowded pharmacies ( kroger, sams, target etc..)
