im going to go with no. its not necessary, not saying it would hurt but surely dragon quest games that havent been released in the states should see some attention before another rehash of ff6 is delivered.
thats actually a great idea. they should make snes and nes games available for dl to the ds just as you can do with the psp on the psn. hell you can use your wii to dl crappy demos onto your ds so why not offer full nes/snes games. oh i wont pretend to know the cost to provide a game for dl but it has to be next to nothing. the upkeep for the servers to host the downloads can be another matter but still cant be too costly. at the very least, every nes/snes game that nintendo owns the rights to should have been released by now on the vc.
over the years nintendo has to have developed quite the library of games they own the rights to. with that said i cannot see a reason why every single one isnt available on their vc. the same goes for sony in respect to their psn ps1 games.
since i dont know any better, i can only say laziness is what stops them from AT LEAST rereleasing every nes game they own on the vc. maybe someone knows better? the cost to them has to be like next to nothing.
developers? no. publishers? no again. the deal is publishers always are on the look out to make more cash thats all. the consumer has the power to set the limit on the abuse they will take but i doubt the avg video game player has the strength of will to fight back.
my only question is, whats the point? paying for exclusives i see as a waste of money until there are serious games that prove they can move hardware. ms gives you the option for such-and-such game. it doesnt matter if that game is available elsewhere, and it doesnt take away from your enjoyment of such-and-such game. if it does take away from your fun, then thats a personal problem. now for a personal story, i picked up mass effect 2 for the 360, despite preferring pc over all and having a machine that can run me2 very well. i grabbed the 360 because i wanted to play it on the 360 with the 360 controls.
is a game good because you like it or because someone else says it is? there are many great games to be found on every platform but you wont know that when your eyes are closed.
the best game to date i have played i would have to give to uncharted 2. it has a story you want to see move. great presentation value, multiplayer so when you get bored after beating the game 10000 times. its not perfefct but its the closest thing to. next is san andreas.
