While Dragon Quest IX is no longer in the Top 10, it is quickly approaching four million copies sold. It may be a matter of a few weeks for this to happen. Also, Monster Hunter 3, which is not on the Top 30 has sold over one million copies according to Capcom.

Because the DSi LL was announced by Nintendo today, it is yet to be seen whether this will affect DSi and DS Lite sales in the weeks before the former's November 21st release.

The fact that both the DS and PSP are competing against each other and each has multiple revisions show that the "system wars" in Japan are between handhelds, not between consoles.

The fact that Nintendo has announced the DSi XL shows that there is a market for larger-sized screens, or else it would have not been made it in the first place. It must have taken surveys and listened to focus groups to design the DSi XL.

Freakin' awesome! I hope it comes to the US - I would buy one in a second!progrmr

It will arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2010. It is the same for Europe.

By the way, it seems that the DSi LL (or LX outside of Japan) is intended for people with poor eyesight, dislike small LCD screens, or for the elderly. Anyone who has good eyesight does not need it.

Think of the DSi LL as one of the jumbo universial remote controls sold in retail stores.

It is unfortunate that some of the reasons for the drop in profits is due to the strong yen because most of its sales are from overseas. Regardless of the revenue of profits, Nintendo is still in the black.

It may be time for Nintendo to do a revision of the Wii to spur sales as what Sony did for the PS3.

[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]

The constant revisions of the DS and the PSP really put me off handhelds. :|

110million

Consoles are doing it too much too, having an original and a slim version of everything is fine, having more than that is just so irritating.

The fact that millions bought the PS3 Slim, shows that revisions of consoles drive up sales. Expect the same thing if the Wii or Xbox 360 have a revision.

We have to blame ourselves for allowing the console makers to make more revisions because we are the ones who buy them. The only way to stop them for releasing more revisions is not buy them.

What does LL stand for?

virus1000

I learned from Kotaku.com that "LL" is the Japanese equivalent of "XL" -- extra large.
