@Ph00p: What? Did you actually read the article or anything that was said? Overwatch is in a great spot and the player base has been increasing every month since it went free to play. It's not a PVE game, so the majority of the people who actually play Overwatch don't actually care all that much about the story stuff. I can't really see the person who's been playing the game for the past 8 months (or even the past 7 years) who's suddenly going to quit because of a lack of PVE content. There's still no better game if you have a group of friends and don't like the battle royale format.
Who knows, the PVE content might actually be great. I'm not holding my breath because all the PVE content they've released so far has been ass, but they sure have put a lot of resources into whatever's coming.
@markdelaney: I get there are different reviewers, but it's not presented as Mark Delaney's review, it's presented as Gamespot's review. It's just a little weird when the review on Gamespot for the first game is that it's pretty good, the second game is not very good, and the review for the remastered package says it's the best way to play the games, that the second game is the highlight, but it's still only a 5.
@HesamB: Um, what? OW2 is in the best spot it's ever been in.
What are you talking about greed for? They're a business. Have you played a video game in the past ten years? It's par for the course. Don't you think greed has anything to do with loot boxes?
@Barighm: It's been over 15 years since horse armour, and there are more and more fantastic amazing games with zero microtransactions every year. Many of those games have been made because of the profits from microtransactions.
Diablo IV also has far more content included in the box than any other Diablo game. So there's that.
Why do we need an article for every game that has cosmetics? If people are willing to spend $20 or more for a cosmetic outfit, who cares? Let them spend $20 on a cosmetic outfit. If you don't want to spend $20, don't spend $20. We don't need to get outraged every single time this happens because every single company is doing it, and who can blame them?
I've been playing Overwatch 2 a lot. I've somehow figured out a way to have a good time without buying a single skin. I know it's mindblowing, but give it a shot. It is possible.
It's no different than selling $90 t-shirts and $700 jeans. Spend your money how you want and let other people do what they want.
