@Archaicc: Plenty of games have been released as exclusives only to be released elsewhere later on. The most famous being Mass Effect.
Microsoft knows they won't be getting all the Sony players to switch to Xbox so it only makes sense to sell them their games for $70.
I don't think you understand how much 7.5 billion is. It would be idiotic to spend that much and then limit how much money they can make by having the games stay multiplatform. There's no math that makes the deal make sense if they just looking for a moderate increase in Game Pass subscribers. It only makes sense if their only goal is to bankrupt Sony, and that's not going to happen.
Minecraft has continued to bring in oodles of money, and they need Zenimax games to do the same.
@Archaicc: Probably 70/30 chance Hellblade, Avowed, and anything Bethesda makes will come to PS5.
I get Microsoft has infinite money, but they're also not stupid and it would be a stupid business move not to put those ones on PS5. It's the best way to get Sony fans to switch sides.
@Tomcat2007: It really depends. Not everyone has 5 hours a day to play games. It takes most people months to play through an Elder Scrolls game. The longer a game is, the less value you're getting for $15/month.
@Archaicc: Doubtful. It's really win-win for Microsoft if they sell all their games for $70 on PS4. The number of Gamepass subscribers is going to go up and they'll still sell boatloads on PS4. There's no compelling argument for Microsoft to make any of their stuff exclusive.
If they ever want to make a profit from a ridiculous 7.5 billion dollar purchase, they need to be selling as many copies as possible.
@Alexander2cents: Um, are you new? Nintendo has been doing things like this for as long as they've been Nintendo. Have you seen the price of a new Joy-Con? Have you seen how many times they've sold the same games without ever letting a purchase carry forward?
Nintendo is by far the eviliest company when it comes to gaming. People just don't care because they like their games.
@Zandeus: Not sure if you're aware, but Super Mario 64 came out 24 years ago and wouldn't get anywhere close to a 94 if it was released today. Take the nostalgia out of it and it's a pretty decent game by today's standards with a ton of rough spots. It's probably about a 7 if was released today. Sunshine would be around 6. Galaxy is still probably a 9.
