i only played splinter cell one on the pc and that was alrite but it never got me to playing the other games

its not resolution but its the frames per second the ps3 is running at

before it ran at automatic so when my ps3 was on it was running at 60

but blu ray movies run at 24 so my tv tried outputting it at 1080p24 which it cant do so it went black

but now its running at 1080p60 and its working fine

^^ u were exactly rite i decided that maybe it was an fps issue so i went to blu ray options and i cahnged the 24 fps option to off,

i then inserted my copy of transporter 2 and everything worked just fine

u have to cut out the UPC tags on the ps3 box to get the 5 free movies, the offer is at bluraysavings.com

regarding the UPC tags i wasnt sure which one it was so i just cut off both barcodes and sent them in and i got the movies about a little less than a month

it took me about a month i live in the west coast and i sent it in the 11th of july and i just got htem today

btw i turned auto start off

and ive been able to play dvd's before on the ps3 also

hmm it could be the region coding but itd be wierd if sony sent me blu rays that were meant for a different country when i live in the US.

the place where the offer was held is in el paso texas and i live on the west coast

alrite ignoring my topic title, im not blaming the 5 free blu rays, i actually have NEVER played a blu ray movie disc on my ps3 yet

and i was really excited to watch the 5 i got, however as soon as i got the 5 movies i tried to watch babel and after inserting the

disc the screen goes to black in typical ps3 disc accepting fashion, however after the little loading circle appears in the top right

hand corner, the screen turns black and my tv says there is no signal.

i have NO IDEA WHATS WRONG!! i am hoping someone will tell me some method of fixing this problem so i can start watching the

blu ray movies.

facts about my ps3 and set up

- it is a 60 gb model from july

- my tv is a Samsung LN-S4095D

- it is usually set in 1080p but after trying the discs and having them not working i also tried to play the disc with my ps3 in 720p but no lucky

-i can play blu ray disc games on the ps3 but not blu ray movies

-my firmware is 1.9

-i am using HDMI (a phillips cable it supports HDMI 1.3) i have plugged and unplugged the HDMi after this and the movies still dont work

theres a gamestop rite next to my target

and if the dude at gamestop told that kind of trash to me i wouldve told him that i was going to go rite across the street to target to buy it instead and that he was losing a customer

then id ask to speak to his manager before i left to tattle on him lol and tell him how his clerk's behavior drove off a customer

and id make sure he got fired before i left

^^ is probly rite dude im not sure if firmware updates have fixed this yet but u just said u had a 1080i tv and the ps3 plays the blu ray movies i think in 720p and if ur tv doesnt support that then it drops the resolution to 480p (standard def)

im not entirely sure tho

but if this is true u'll probly have to wait for a firmware update that supports 1080i better .. or of course buy a new tv

btw 1080i and 720p arent exactly the same as in most older high def tv's only supported 1080i which could be the problem ur tv ran into
