@pierskachu: Because all 1400 would've accepted and they wouldn't have had any left sitting behind not doing what this promotion intended right? Get real. This was more of a 1st come, 1st serve; you snooze, you lose type deal.

Straight from Rockstar's website:

"Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."

They'll be doing the same thing they did to GTAV to RDR2. Why bother when the masses will buy it regardless?

@Atzenkiller: Yes, financial self-preservation is what led to the proliferation of that capitalistic behavior in an inherently creative industry.

I left a point out of my last comment to keep it short but you're right in that they only succeeded because the masses made those actions profitable.

It coincided with the rise of the industry as a juggernaut and with that growth came an influx of casuals and newcomers who don't know or care about the industry or what or how their support affects it.

That group includes people with more money than sense, not enough skills to compete with the core gamers so they accept the shortcuts dangling in front of them, or don't care to put in the work because they have that mindset of just "buying in" instead of earning.

It happened with other media industries and it's increasingly happening with videogames. We do our part and hopefully make a difference in knowledge and action.

He may be a racist but he confirmed some truth many of us in-the-know already knew, from an insider perspective.

I said years ago that these business heads who were coming in from other industries (or emulating them) to capitalize off of the growing videogame industry would apply those outsider tactics to one they have no passion for, and deeply divide and scar it in the process; and here we are, seeing that set of actions continue to grow, with many inside it in a constant state of upheaval, by these soulless megacorps following formulas and balance sheets.

EA, voted the worst corporation more than once, killing another good studio they strategically acquired, in Visceral, under a guise of consolidation but with the ultimate goal of financial self-preservation at whatever the cost, because they don't respect the artists(ex: Amy Hennig with Star Wars), the consumers/ gamers or the studios and their legacies.

Get milked suckers.

"Further explaining why GTA V never got any single-player expansions, Sarwar said it came down to a lack of resources,..."

If you believe this bull, then you deserve to get chomped by Shark Cards. No resources when the rest of the article and the sales show otherwise.

"With GTA V, the single-player game was absolutely massive and very, very complete."

Oh, really? Is that why some places like the racetrack and dam recreation area were lifeless? I remember there being talk of casinos and horse racing and other SP activities. Unless they added this stuff in patches, which I doubt, because I haven't touched this game since PS3.

This Sarwar, and Rockstar in return, are liars and fools for thinking I'm a fool. In fact, why am I still holding onto my RDR2 pre-order? I don't want to reward this scummy corporation that says one thing but does another while contradicting its philosophies in between.

Oh, and I also remember how Rockstar treated the employees who made the first Red Dead Redemption.

@davillain-: It got better with repeat viewings but I wouldn't put it up with the greatest of all-time either. Has some pretty hilarious moments though.
