@bthegamer: That's what I said. "Their engine can't handle all the systems they needed for this game and the only way to get it running at all smoothly was to lock it at 30fps for series x." Yes, a dev/engine problem.

I'm seeing more and more projects greenlit through "special agreements" during the strike. They're not even showing solidarity amongst themselves.

Rocket pods for the dam skeeters the dragons get a face full of fricken lasers. Fromsoft, please, these are both your titles. Do me a solid will ya?

@cherub1000: it's a twich reaction third person shooter and very arcadey. There's no connection to souls type gameplay. It is difficult but it's a holy crap bullet hell kind of difficulty. Not like souls games.

@johnny0779: oh god would you stop?!? They're both plastic boxes with PCs inside that do nearly the same thing. Xbox being slighty more powerful is meaningless. My 5 year old pc runs Starfield exactly the same as my seires x at 4k, and I can change graphical options to get a completely smooth frame rate at 1080 which still looks fine for pete's sake. The issue is the engine and Bethesda itself not having the ability to optimize for any platform. You, johnny, are why gaming kind of sucks. We can't just talk about the merits of a game. No we have to argue about the damn platform.

Who the hell is still listening to that little gnome? Why does the game run so badly on the "most powerful console ever made" if being able to focus exclusively on that console is such a good thing? I tried it on gamepass and 30 fps is effing brutal. Their engine can't handle all the systems they needed for this game and the only way to get it running at all smoothly was to lock it at 30fps for series x. So why is it that my five year old PC with a 9th gen i7 and a 2080 super can completely match the performance of the series x at 4k. If I run it at 1080, which you can't do on the xbox, I get a completely smooth experience.

The thing about Starfield and BG3 is, they're fine. They're probably the two biggest releases this year, they're single player focus (I know BG has multiplayer but it's a choice, not forced on you like Diablo with other people running around the world), and they're not loaded with monetization. Gameplay and story aside, those are pretty big selling points. I think fans of these two games are so happy to be getting new installments that are also NOT live services that they give it a higher score than it should get. But there are also people who think there should have been some massive gameplay overhaul in either DnD or how Bethesda makes games, neither of which will ever happen. These folks give low scores based not on what's there but what they think it should have been. I feel like games are not judged based on what they are but on the expectations people have for them.
