the reason microsoft doesn't want this, because if they're hosting a emulator and people downloading it and play games (aka roms) that's not a original game made for xbox system or it's only exclusive to nintendo or sony, then nintendo or sony could sue microsoft for it.

Bingo. (Nintendo/Sony suing)

it's their system software so they can do as they please. You only paid for the Box not the Software inside of the Box. Plus, emulation isn't exactly legal all the time so yeah. You take the chance if you want to, that's you but if you get banned then it's your fault.

Actually, emulation is 100% legal. It's the way people usually go about getting the game's to play on the emulation software that isn't always legal.

This is the reason Xbox doesn't want the software legitimately running on their hardware. Xbox didn't have a problem with it for the longest while running on the series S.

My guess is that all the media coverage it has got, and more people engaging... they're looking to avoid possible legal troubles.

@rizenstrom: your not really pissing away $500 to replace a console, your selling the perfectly good console on eBay for $350-$400+ and use that money to buy the limited edition one. So its more like $100-$150 out of pocket, and will hold its resale value a lot better than the $65 (retail) plastic faceplate.

Didn't say THAT'S for everyone, but depending on what the special edition theme is, I personally would and have.

Better to have a limited/special edition, that is more unique, and rare, than the basic release everyone has.

Plus, that single piece of plastic faceplate will just continue to diminish in value, the more they sell.

And, I was capitalizing 'faceplate' to further emphasize what it is... Just a FACEPLATE.

As for your option on the faceplate betting objectivity better, that's your option, and your untitled to it, but I'd rather have a better resale value down the road, if I ever decide to sell. (Possibly even a profit)

Plus, you can probably paint your own 'faceplate' for a lot cheaper than $70 bucks, that will be worth just as much as Sony probably pays China to make these, and look just as good.

But, these are just my options.

You all have no one to blame, but yourselves. (The ones that supported and defend them in the first place)

All the publishers/developers/game companies ect. are 100% NOT at fault. They're just following the paper trail. If YOU seen a sure fire way to make millions, wouldn't you do the same?!

MTX is a cancer, that the kids and casual gamers just can't see, or care to see.

@sippio: nice to see not everyone is on Sony's nuts over this spiderman FACEPLATE.

Nothing special or limited about this.

Its just Sony's way of making as much money, with as little effort possible.

A lot cheaper to manufactor a piece of plastic, that can fit on to every ps5 they've sold to date, then selling a whole limited edition console, to a limited number of consumers that either don't have a ps5 already, or to the limited market (like me) that are willing to sell their current ps5 for a new/special edition one. (depending on what the theme is)

Say what you want about Xbox and Nintendo, at least they still have the right idea, when it comes to the special releases. Sony use to. Xbox's halo edition one x was nice looking, custom start up sounds ect. Nintendo's TotK special edition is beautiful.

Sony's spiderman FACEPLATE, nice looking or not... LAZY!

finished the quest, it was pretty fun.

Got a lucky vestige drop on whisper at 5kc, crafted the bellator ring, sold it for a little over 2B.

First time I ever got such a valuable drop, probably will never happen again.

I was REALLLLY tempted to sell the gold on eBay, could of made an easy $1,100+ bucks, but I decided on buying a twisted bow instead (and a few other things)

Unless the tbow drops significantly in value, I can always get the gold back, and it will help out my account greatly.

@pbego: definitely cheapen things...

Would you rather have a limited number, special edition / color exclusive model, or just a snap-on faceplate that anyone can purchase, and essentially makes their vanilla ps5 in to a "spiderman" edition?! What's the point.

Xbox has had the right idea at least.

For an example, the halo special edition xbox one x. Custom color console, with a custom sound board, only a certain number made, like the 500 million ps4 pro special edition.

Special editions/Limited editions should be just that... Not some interchangeable faceplate, that devalues with everyone sold, and will continued to be manufactured as long as it sells.

Who is still watching these?

If you mean 'the captain marvel movies' I would have to agree.

but, if you mean Marvel movies in general... My guess is,

the "tuff guy" saying 'Who is still watching these?'

In my experience, everyone that talks shit about "these" movies, are just as well at the box office getting their tickets for the latest release. The fact is, If you like going to the theaters, what other options is there really out there, besides "these" movies, and the rare one-offs the pop up every so often?...

looks a little plain jane-ish to me.

Seems to me they could have done more.

I think the all red PS4 pro spider-man edition was better looking. Their just basically selling a spider-man themed faceplate... more work probably went into the controller design.

Doesn't really make the console itself special.
