@Busta_Cap_Killa That would be cool but they have already started to do the remakes of ps1 and ps2 games. If they actually made the console backwards compatible to play those games then they would lose the market that they just started to build. From what I heard ( go check this because I might be wrong) You will be able to download some psp games and play them from your psp or your ps3. When you play on your ps3 it gets upscaled. I think the first game that they will be doing this with is a Monster Hunter game. (which will only be available in Japan of course) I hope they do this with more games because that would be awesome. This way I wouldn't miss out on vita or psp games that come out.
@Dragdar No they don't have to change the controller. If you don't like the controller then go to the store and buy an off brand controller. The controller is fine the way it is.
I can't wait to see what this person has to say about Nintendo. "Make it a powerhouse. They need to out power Sony and Microsoft if they want to be on top. Stop making Mario games, and put more money into FPS."
@Kuro_Getsuga I'm not saying Gamespot thinks that way, I am saying the person who wrote this article thinks this way and I strongly disagree with them. They ditched the boomerang because it was dumb and nobody liked it, lets get serious. Sony won't change their controller because gamers love that controller. I can play shooters on either the 360 or the ps3 controller. The only thing that I have to change is my trigger and I am set. To me, the only reason people like the 360 controller is because it fits in the hand better, and I will admit it fits very well. One more thing, NOT EVERYONE PLAYS SHOOTERS. Just because SOME PEOPLE believe it is better for shooters doesn't mean that Sony should change the controller for one genre.
I did read the other article from the same person and didn't write because other people already said what I was going to say. Microsoft embracing Blu-Ray is something that they need to do. It was something that they probably would have done if they had not already made the format HD-i and teamed with Toshiba to make HD DVD's. Microsoft using Blu-Ray is something that has to happen. The only reason why they haven't done it now is because it would be hard for everybody to change the formats around. Now Sony putting up ads all over my dashboard telling me to buy things will irritate me. It irritated me on my 360 and that is one reason why I ditched it. I know not everyone gets emails but it isn't hard for everyone to get emails, just don't opt out of them. The market is a great place and it has a great place under my market tab. When it gets in front of my games and videos then it does cluster things and that is what I don't want. They do need to work on their market. It needs to be faster and it needs to show more. This can be done without putting it all over the dashboard. I like the XMB because it is clean and calm. Everything has a place, and I can get to everything quick.
I love Gamespot. I get on this website everyday. I don't agree with this editor who is from IGN. I can tell it is written from somebody from that website because of the content that is inside this article. The only reason this article doesn't have spelling mistakes is because the editors on this site actually know how to edit.
@Kuro_Getsuga Are you serious? Did you even read the article. This is a bogus article. I don't think they are conspiring against anything. I think they need to rethink what they are talking about and what they want from a playstation. How about you get off since you obviously don't know either. There is a reason why each console is different and why each company does what they do a different way. This person is asking for them to make it like a 360. I read what you said above and the controller needs to stay the same. the 360 controller is the best in your opinion. Sony tried to change it and everybody through a fit and they went back to the original, something the consumers like. Also let me quote directly from the article for you. "Change the story by creating a storefront fused into the dashboard." That is what Microsoft has done with the 360 and it is terrible. I get emails about the new games and promotions from Sony so I don't need it to clutter up my dash. I want a clean, nice, organized, playstation. Not a 360.
I see that Hilary used to work at IGN and now I can understand why this article is crap. First off, Sony didn't take a chance with the Blu-Ray technology. Sony helped develop it which in turn they decided to put it into their next console. Sony and a whole big line of other companies went with Blu Ray while Microsoft and Toshiba went with HD DVD. They didn't take a risk with Blu-Ray they went with what the newly formed Blu-Ray company had developed and put it into their console because they knew that the next home movies would be put on Blu-Ray.
Also I like the way that the PSN store isn't in my face at all times. It is calm and I love it that way. I don't have an ad telling me to invest into something stupid. When I want to go to the store and get something I know how to get there and I know what I want. This is a big reason why I like the Playstation dash over Xbox, because it isn't over flowing with ads and telling me to buy things all the time. I do admit I wish it could be faster and easier to go through, but other then that it is fine the way it is.
Another thing is that they don't need to skimp up their console at all in any way shape or form. I would rather spend more on the console and get a full package rather then to buy the console and then have to go back to the store to make my console do what I want it to do. I loved my PS3 because right out of the box I could get online and start to do what I wanted to do. With my 360 I had to wait and eventually go back to the store to get it to work to its full potential.
Go with Epic? You must really like Microsoft and just want the next Playstation to be another Xbox. Unreal is ok. It is not the best looking engine out there. Best looking games in the consoles history? Maybe for the 360, but that is because the 360 has only had 4-5 major games come out of the system. Even with that the Unreal is an ok engine. To me it still needs a lot of work and could look better. Playstation can live without Epic on their side. Would I say they should completely ignore them, no, but they aren't a main priority.
You were pretty ok with the other stuff. Avoiding another crises is obvious; easier development is obvious, not being late is obvious. I like the controller the way it is. I haven't played with the move yet because it doesn't have anything that has really interested me yet so they could do something about that.
You need to go back to IGN or some other site with your nonsense, or you could go hop on your 360 because that is almost what you said in this article. Be more like Microsoft and make a 360.
I can understand why they are releasing for the 360 first. They are used to developing for it so it will come out sooner. Hopefully this means that they will actually work on the ps3 version of the game and it won't be a lazy port. The guys at Bungie are hard working developers. I trust they will make a quality game, or series.
Still not acceptable. I plan on getting Dragon's Dogma. If I find a way to get that content off of my disc for free, then I will and I will use that content. I already payed 60 for that disc and I am entitled to what is on that disc.
