@GOGOGOGURT @Shantmaster_K I don't know whether to be pissed off or thankful that in years of playing Skyrim the only bugginess I've encountered are stuck quest items, and a bit of frame rate dropping when the file hits 14MB. Maybe a handful of crashes. Where's all the naked people, flipping carts and dragons flying backwards?

@joshflavell Movies already have real people realistically killing real people. Be it bloody faces and swelling in Fight Club, or limbs and entrails in Saving Private Ryan (too name a few), there is plenty of disturbingly realistic content out there. To be a snuff film/game it would need to consist of torturing someone. What you mentioned is essentially an interactive/choose-your-own-adventure version of Battle: Los Angeles, or whatever.

I'm sure some gamers will find it too uncomfortable to play, just as many people are put off an otherwise interesting film if it has strong scenes of violence. In general though it needs no more rationalisation than Rambo.

The bigger point, perhaps, is what anti-gaming lobbyist will say about its influence on copy-cat behaviour and desensitization, and how that will effect censorship. I can't imagine that crowd is going anywhere soon.

@psycho75 @fizzledwar I don't think for a second that suddenly every developer will just decide to create stories for photo-realistic humans/aliens(?) just because it's available. Amazingly realistic visuals for film have been around for a long time, and cartoons/anime are more popular than ever. Crazy artistry is everywhere in the film industry despite the realism that can be achieved if desired, so why would the games industry be any different?

@Sorciere_basic ? You need sales to make another game though? If Japanese studios fail to sell to the international market they could fall behind as they lose talent to studios that can actually afford to stay open. I recently found Ni No Kuni fantastic as well, so they do make great and popular games, but the Japanese industry does not have as many tent poles as the West, and it's often the smaller devs that bring the innovation. If they don't sell, they don't get picked up and they disappear = sad for all.

Not all popular games have to be COD. There is a decent variety of top sellers that we have. If West leaning innovation helps bring good jRPG's (or a new style?) to a bigger audience, gaming will be the better for it, and some hard working devs might get paid.

@TimeFrame

You don't need to apologise for liking a game.

Jk, no one can like Walking Dead or Colonial Marines.

@Sydrum @Grenadeh I'll buy the next TR and I'm sure I'll love it. But DE:HR has turned me off the series completely, and I don't think I could bring myself to put myself through that again if there's another sequel. Deus Ex is still my number one game ever, and I can't bare watching his children mercilessly slaughtered.

@innocent69 But there will also be Kojima, Naughty Dog, Cage, D-Souls, Bethesda and the like bringing out ever more fantastic games. So pretty excited

@Kryptonbornson I became quite mopey when I finished Tomb Raider. First game (linear) where I've been bothered to try and collect all the hidden things.

Some of the most profitable businesses in the world? Clear proof you are an alien.

The film production sections of most big media companies are struggling to make any profit, hence the recent trend to tighter co-operation between rivals and reliance on safer tent-pole pictures, plus the constant mergers to try and hack away costs. And the games industry has a notoriously poor ROI.

You do realize companies need to make profits don't you? In the real world the majority of shareholders and managers aren't fat men behind mahogany desks covered in piles of cash.

P.S - If your small business doesn't even have sales targets, then sorry but I can see why it's struggling and you've become bitter at the capitalists. Get a business coach or something?

@RPG_Fan_I_Am @natturk I'm skeptical about it chopping fries? Ever since HAL turned off my fan last summer I'm reticent to give my household machines weapons.
